This is part 1 of a 3 video series covering my REMAIDEN of the Freewing F-14a Tomcat 64mm. (yes I am aware that there is truly no REMAIDEN).

It almost feels better than a good maiden when you are able to fix what you broke, learn from your mistakes, and go have a great flight on the re-maiden! Nice work!

Absolutely!

You have nerves of steel. We forgot to thank your lovely bride for running the camera. Excellent diagnosis and problem solving.

Thanks and I thank her all the time for her great help. I try with the diagnoses and working thru them. Then share to help others and get feed back so we all can excel with these planes.

Fantastic flight. Landing with SAFE lets you focus on flying her down under power and rudder while avoiding the nasty tendency to jerk the ailerons when a wing drops putting you into a stall. Very nice!

Yes, you are right

Cool SAFE seems to work great for landing. Those dorks on RCGs have no clue what there doing and there also not very good flyers.

I share my experience raw. I don't practice fly 10 times before I show a flight. When I say this is the maiden then it truly is OUR maiden. We all learn as I learn.

A much better result, well flown and great landings......jeff.

This shows that if you set up this plane correctly it will fly as expected. Thank you FGFRC

Thanks I have done my best to follow the manual unless the PLANE shows me otherwise.

Great flight! That's awesome that safe works like we thought it should! I'm definitely trying mine that way for the first couple flights at least. Thanks for the video!
@FatGuyFliesRC9 ай бұрын
Yes it does! Works good for taking off and landing just needs longer approaches and takeoffs.
@vrosi19639 ай бұрын
defiantly want one ,many possibility's for mechanical drama with the wing flaps and wing sweep going on
@FatGuyFliesRC9 ай бұрын
If you get one just make sure the push rods for the wings are very snug.

@@FatGuyFliesRC I saw your comments and defiantly will get one later, you should try the fl b24 and tell me what you think about the low prop clearance and prop strike issue
@bulten10779 ай бұрын
Nice!! You covered some question that I have. CG on the fuselage instead of the wings. And it seems to fly very well by the book. My F14 is still in the box and my plan is to set it up like that. But maybe have the ailerons around 65-70% and the inner hole on the ailerons like Wes. Good luck with the upcoming flights!
@FatGuyFliesRC9 ай бұрын
Watch part 2 and 3 i end up with 75% for high on ailerons.
@bulten10779 ай бұрын
@@FatGuyFliesRC Looks good! It seems that is not so hard to land this thing, if you do it the right way, like you did in 2 and 3 :-) That is what Im most nervous about regarding this f14.

Im glad you got back up and flying Fats. Did I hear you correct when you said you had it in safe it wouldnt flip over? bc that is key to the safe mode. I know the throws are the same in both as3x and safe so im curious on why it wouldnt flip over? Im going to watch your transmitter and receiver setup video again to check out your setting for flaps and rates and mixes you set in your transmitter. I cant afford to crash another plane at this cost and Ive just watched two other friends who are much more experienced pilots crash there birds due to wing issues with the push rods and one wing not sweeping. Idk
@FatGuyFliesRC9 ай бұрын
Yes you heard right I cant explain why but the throws were the same but it had set bank angels when I flew her. Perhaps the gyro is programed to make SAFE more restrictive at higher speed. but I tried to test it in flight and it fought me.

What happened to video advising folks against purchasing this plane? I appreciated the honest feeling about it but now am left wondering.
