Oh my GOSH!!! Gary, at last, finally someone who is truly a master of their trade, and and expert in their field. Landscapers and so many.. they are just so ignorant, wow, thank you, thank you!!! You are a KING of Palms, there is no doubt... all you said, showed, taught us in the video, matched up, and your your length is what it takes to show and explain it, and anyone not willing to watch 15 min to save their palm trees.. $5K or $50K of them, does not really care or know better and therefore do not deserve the knowledge if they will not invest 15 min of their time to educate themselves.

Best Post-Freeze Palm video I have seen! Way too many 'fly by night' companies that make $$$ cutting trees down that told a bunch of people in our area (Katy) that their trees were dead, when there is a good chance they were not dead. I have 8 Mexican fan palms at the house and there are about 20 at our office, all between 25' and 40' tall. All of them made it at the house (just started showing green a few weeks ago) and all but one made it at the office, and that one was teetering in health before the freeze so... Great video, I subscribed simply because of actual legit information - similar to what our arbor and I talked about. He even had the trimmers check the tree when they were trimming the fronds and he told us it may be a few months to show us green. That came out to be true.

Thank you!! 😁 you have given me hope. I have thre palm trees. After the freeze they all seemed dead. Have been devastated thinking there was no hope. The other day i discovered the smallest one 3 ft high is sprouting new leaves. The 9 and 13 ft are still dry, no green showing. I have not touched them hoping for a green leaf to shpw up. With your advise now i know what to look for and maybe still save them. 😍 So happy!!

I have a question if I may: Once you've pulled the spear out and poured copper sulphate solution into the crown, how long should you leave it for and how many times should this be done? Also do you need to then dry out the crown and keep it dry or cover it? Many thanks.

Great video! Ive just experienced a cold snap with a overnight low down to 8 deg, I pre- wrapped the spear area of my mule palms and Washingtons with a pipe heater then trunk wrap, then a layer of burlap, and an outer layer of a moving blanket. On some I still experienced foliage damage all the way down to the new growth. Im planing on preemptively starting a treatment. How often do perform the treatment on the crown while trying to save a palm ?

I've figured out why some think they should cut the tops of their palms off: They're confusing palm trees with cordylines. I only learnt tonight that my 'palm trees' were actually cordyline australis (NZ cabbage trees), which CAN be cut back after a frost, and will often sprout new growth from the bottom or along the trunk. Most of the videos I've watched tonight (and I've watched a LOT - it's past 2am here) don't make the distinction, so people think they need similar treatment. I hope this helps

How often should I apply the copper fungus treatment? I have a med fan with three trunks. Still some green at base of fronds on two larger trunks, but smaller one seems completely brown. Spears pulled from two of the three. I have used hydrogen peroxide when spears pulled. I have copper fungicide that I was going to use this week. I'm in the Dallas area. Glad to hear "don't cut trunks."' I was about to cut the smaller once since it seems dead. All three trunks are very solid and fronds are standing up on all of them (I cut off all that were hanging down). Small sprouts have started growing around the base. I assume that is a good sign.

just had someone come clean up my palm tree. he took off SO MANY fonds. There's literally like 5 fonds at the top (in good shape)... the majority of my fonds were dead... but there were still SOME greenish ones at the top that were also cut off. Did they take off too many fonds? It looks incredibly dorky. will they grow back? will new ones come in? how long til it looks like my tree has some substance again?

I mixed it in a gallon pitcher..I mixed about 2 tsp in one gallon of water...so all of my palms got 2 tsp per 1 gallon and I poured the whole gallon down into the crowns of each palm I have. Is that about right?
