My credit has been frozen for about 3 years after an identity theft scare. I’ve been considering refinancing my car in the next month or so, but my credit age is relatively low. My car loan is just over two years old. It’s my newest account and the oldest is 10 years. My car loan is currently paid well ahead.

@ Thanks for that advice! I checked with my bank and my credit union this morning and the credit union’s rate is 2% less. I saw a pre-approved offer on credit karma for about 1.5% less than the credit union and I had only looked at my banks so far. I checked the pre-approval out too and they charge a prepayment penalty. I definitely intend to pay it off early. So, credit union it is!

Is it better to do a pay for delete or goodwill deletion letter if I have already settled the payment?

I would try the goodwill deletion. Since you already settled the debt the 'Pay for Delete" will not work. the payment should have been as a condition of the deletion.

Please see link below - This is not VA specific but the process to assume is the same, the one thing about assuming a VA loan is the seller may lose their VA eligiblity when they go to purchase another home. Yes, as you pay off your balance you will get that credit back to use again and again.

I was always told it helps your taxes but when I did mine this year it didn’t lol 😅hopefully yours gets you a bigger refund.. mine was about the same as 2023 and I bought my house in 2024 as well 🌟🥰

It won't help your taxes unless all your itemized deductions are over the standard deduction......if you don't have taxable amount it won't benefit you eithe.... I'm a tax preparer
