No insulation. As the main heat hit, the walls and roof would radiate such incredible heat, I’d lose up to 2kg just from sweating. One stinker, I got out to my car and it said 52c outside temp. I’m with you mate , I have always loved hot weather , funnily enough I lived in Melbourne most of life , except for a stretch working in Western Australia , and Mildura on the border of Victoria and NSW . In Melbourne despite what people say in fun about it,s weather being , if you don’t like the weather wait 5 minutes😊. As an old Aussie one thing about Melbourne city , usually in winter it is cold ( not your cold😂), just taking a guess I’d say an average temperature through winter day time might be around 8 or 9 Celsius in city and burbs , it can get quiet drizzly and miserable at times, but it’s not really cold cold like Canada, in the hills we do get a bit of snow , in the actual city of Melbourne in my 60+ years I can remember a sprinkling of snow twice , and it was only barely enough to cover the ground . To the other extreme , for about the last 15 years , I think the jet stream which generally goes east to west in our neck of the woods due to earths spin has moved a bit because melbournes summers have been slightly milder imo , for example we would during the summer nearly always get a long string of high 30 Celsius with a few 40+ Celsius thrown in for good measure , but Melbourne summers have been really nice from the pleasant to mildly hot . We seem to rarely see 40’s anymore . But eastern states and Melbourne too , if the red centre experiences some stinking hot desert heat and the winds bring the heat across and down we can get some stinkers down here to, I recall having the aircon gassed up in my car one Friday wanting to test the next day , and in my suburb the next day it reached 47 Celsius ! That was one of the infamous fire seasons called black Saturday , another being Ash Wednesday, one of those burned iirc over a million acres of land . Speaking of which , hopefully the bad fires in the US come to an end soon mate , it’s heart breaking to see people losing everything . I remember going through one of the areas where fires had run through the country north of Melbourne country Victoria about a month after , prior was heavily wooded country side , in the aftermath , not even a single tree trump survived , the area looked like a moon scape with just grey ash for miles. Of course some of the other states see mid 40’s more often and occasionally higher due to their proximity to the desert more often. I have a lot of Relo’s (relatives)that live dotted around Queensland , and they absolutely love it , and it is tropical weather so it rains more often , and they are prone to more violent storms and floods , but they tell me , even when it rains , you still get around in shorts and a singlet😊. Sydney gets about twice the rainfall of Melbourne . I’ll probably get flamed , but in all honesty , think Melbourne has the most tolerable overall weather in the country, we rarely get destructive storms like the top end and generally the seasons are predictable , in winter you dress warmly , in summer you dress for very nice warm weather , with the occasional hot days. I don’t think I could handle living in ice and snow every day , my body feels it like pain . Hope you get some warm stuff soon 😊. Cheers.

Aussie here, very much appreciating your usage of Celsius 😀 I live in Esperance, Western Australia: last Friday it was 44C with northerly/north-easterly winds & a very uncomfortable night where the temp didn't fall below 21C, the Friday before it was 44C, and tomorrow, Friday, we're expecting another 40C - that many 40+ days is rather unusual for us, and it's made worse by the fact I live in a very old house with no aircon 🥵

-25c is equally unpleasant. Your ears burn, your nose burns, your cheeks burn with no facial covering, and even with 5-6 layers of clothing and woollen socks, gloves and boots it's impossible to get warm outside. Staying indoors with a heater and a hot chocolate helps, but winters are very long in the northern hemisphere.

@@bluester7177 Brisbane Qld is about the same latitude with a similar climate to Parana / Santa Catalina in southern Brasil, except we get more tropical storms and cyclones, but not as many as Florida. Anything below -15c is unpleasant . I've come back from South Korea in July and my family think I'm weird wearing a t shirt and shorts because I don't consider +10c as really cold anymore, not when I've experienced -25c to -15c in Seoul. Average SEQ winter temps in July are 7c to 20c, in summer 15c to 32c. But I know what you mean. 15c is pleasant. I would go to the hill stations in Malaysia and Java to get a temporary respite from the heat and humidity. eg the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia were 17 to 22c, whereas KL was 25 to 34c and 90% humidity.

Remember, cold weather in Australia come from the South Pole, usually in the form of a very strong wind, so when you are looking at this map Tassie and Victoria are probably cold because the cold wind has already reached them. It will continue to blow north bringing cold weather to the other states until it runs out of puff.

3:43 -32°C is the temperature I remember from my childhood in Czechia. Now we have a regular spring here in Prague (in mountains it is a little bit better). I've heard that this is caused by a Golf stream, which is going below his average trace. I mean, colder winter in Canada, and "UK weather" in the middle of Europe. "Funny" it will be if this stream stops.

We've had several extreme weather warnings here in Perth for heatwaves. What is noticeable and unusual is the lack of cyclones up north for years now, not great for natural diversity, water stocks and agriculture but at least the towns aren't getting bashed.

The good thing about Sydney's weather is that it is *mildly* variable, as distinct from being a fixed constant. Not in the same sense as some places in the world, which can see-saw all over the place almost at random. It can get very hot here in summer, certainly, but typically this goes for no more than a couple of weeks at a time, with occasional breaks with cool changes and spells of rain. Likewise, it can get dang cold in winter (not quite snow, but close enough), but with occasional spells where the weather might actually approach being nice.
