It looks like you were able to avoid some of the crazy weather of the last week or so... no heavy rains or snow or such. (Obviously, you would not have filmed then, anyhow)! Another great mix, Leslie. The DRS/TESCO was quite a sight- a lot of blue... kind of cool! And the usual goodies... TPE, Avanti, Class 66 in DB red! lol! Take care!

Thanks Anthony. Carlisle avoided the snow, just cold! The Tesco trains are the longest running through this section. The signallers now have to check the length of the intermodals as they can be longer than many of the sidings usually used to allow passenger trains to pass

Thanks John. I'm afraid I've not been able to get any update on Carstairs. They have till Sunday I think to get the new realigned east curve ready and running but another thirteen weekends on the rest.

No - from the town side of the footbridge over Castle Way, by the castle. It only works in Winter when there arent any leaves on the trees though. The wall is high so you - and a lot of adults - would need steps. I have to stand on my toes! You could try from the bridge itself.

To re-emphasize how bad the track is through Carlisle as I have mentioned before you only have to look at the uneven movements of coaches and goods rolling stock. They are jumping all over the place. Carlisle Railway station needs to be rebuilt in a totally new location.

Track rebuild is unlikely unless HS2 upgrades of the existing line north of Crewe occurs, I hear. All the same the track does need a major rebuild to remove the 20MPH restrictions.
