Interesting thoughts. Here in the States, using a Logistics Provider can streamline the shippers operation by using multiple carriers based on their preferred lanes and least cost needs, and then provide technology to manage multiple carriers and minimize risk of carriers that under perform. This creates a win-win for everyone.

Yes, I think that's the case on most areas of the world. Often the term used is LLP. Lead Logistics Provider.

This is a common mistake. People focus on getting a 'cheaper' rate. If the rate is too low, the freight company won't be making any profit, or even be making losses. Ultimately they will come back to ask for a higher rate, or dump your account. i.e. The rate was so low it was not 'sustainable'.
