I’m a frenchie owner too. I use a grinder that has a light built in. It does help locate the vein in the nails that are transparent, not so much on the ones that are opaque. I try to touch-up/grind one a week. I read somewhere that if you keep the nail maintained close to the end of the vein, that the vein will start to recede and over time you can cut shorter. That has not been the case in my experience, atleast for my frenchie.

We love it too, its incredibly useful. Thoughts on grinding every week to avoid having to cut is, absolutely do that if needed. ESPECIALLY if your dog hates their nails being clipped (common) but don't mind the grinder so much. Sometimes something is better than nothing. However if the nails are already completely overgrown, they may require a clipping first as a nice reset before grinding exclusively.

What kind of set up would you recommend for someone that wants to wash, cut and groom their dogs at home. Something portable that would allow to cut nails and coat too.
