Additionally, I think the value of the trip itself is a bit overrated. In the end, it is about putting it in practice where it counts. Worth listening not just to what he said, but how he said it and importantly what he left out. When learning French cooking in college, what I learned is that 1) people first eat with their eyes, presentation is very important, 2) people eat foods not symphonies, choose well but don't complicate it, and 3) if you do complicated steps, make them your first ones so every step after is an augmentation of the one before (mother sauces are the most well known of this process, Mike had the idea and Chef Franck said it was not Mayonnaise, meaning - make the Mayonnaise first then bring it to where you want it to go).

We need more of chef Franck Pontais! It felt like there was extra pressure on the boys with him watching their every move and calling them out any time he smelled a hint of BS. Thanks for a great video; well done guys!

Barry thought he got a badge at the end, he looked so confused when Ebbers said " 2 badges out of 3" lol. I liked his dish too, visually at least

Mike cheering Jaime on is the cutest thing ever!!! Great example of how… “he’s the maaan”

I remember a Feast Your Ears podcast where a joke was made about an apple and red onion pie, and now Jamie's made an onion and apple tarte tatin and it looks like it worked! Amazing work, besides the unbalanced trifle. I'm glad Jamie admitted that that might have been partially his fault, but Baz should have left time to taste all the elements together to adjust as needed.

I think it's one of his weakness when it comes to cooking. He focuses more on the style versus the substance. Hopefully, he'll take the Chef's criticism into consideration for future recipes.

I would LOVE Chef Franck Pontais back in the SORTED kitchen. It was so wonderful to see honest and genuinely constructive feedback instead of just overdoing a strict chef stereotype for the camera or being lenient because it's youtube. Perfect balance, this is one of my favourite videos.

The big question is: how many French words will get mispronounced and how will the French chef respond to it? 😉

All of them, and with an aghast face and an "oh lala"

I'm french and I'm ok with it, as long as it's not fully butchered lol. Plus, Ben just fine in French.

This is the way I look at it, as long as someone is trying, do they really deserve to be corrected or judged on how well they are saying the words? (they are not taking a French class)

It takes some real diplomacy and tact to give someone an unfavourable review in such a kind and constructive way. 11/10

This video is so wholesome. It is all what I love about Sorted: you have teamwork, you have friends, you have an amazing learning experience and you have a bit of humor too. I kind of want another video where Ebbers has to follow the chef in French while not being able to see what Chef Franck is doing :p

To me chef was polite, firm and also respectful to the normals it was nice to see. I thought French desserts were overly sweet? If so then Baz hit the nail right on the head. Ebbers looked like he enjoyed it. I think each of the normals did very well. Could you guys do a Colab with Elise from My cupcake addiction. It would have to be over zoom but she is amazing

Oh no French desserts aren’t sweet. Or at least in contrast to British desserts that are vastly sweeter

Gotta say, Jamies dish was one of the best looking and sounding dishes that I have seen on Sorted. Worthy of all the praise for sure.

The differences between Chef Poppy and Chef Franck is a wonderful change of pace. This was such a different video than the past. The normals always try to do well, but there is lots of joking and seriousness often takes a back seat. There was joking today...but the normals were ALL business. They put working hard first and pulled through. The starter and main course looked and sounded amazing. The dessert also looked amazing, but I agree with Chef Franck about the sweetness...especially with the ferrero rocher. But overall and incredible job well done and most impressed with Jamie, not just for his dish but also the leadership in developing the meal.

I really hope they'll release the livestream of the "Pass it on live" a few days after its been streamed. Would love some more content to have running in the background as I work :) Not to mention, I'd love to see the carnage that I missed due to other obligations.

The amount of knowledge and skills that Jamie, Mike, and Barry are showing is absolutely amazing! They've learned so much and they now talk like experienced cooks! They totally aren't normals anymore! :D
