I've actually driven round that track back in 94 when it was still possible. What a dash...brilliant.
@themuaddib2 жыл бұрын
I think you could do a modernized version of the track that would be pretty cool. D27 southwest to the traffic circle with D26 Wrap around the traffic circle clockwise as a chicane Out onto D26 to the northwest Turn with D26 to the northeast and the highway interchange Unfortunately that bypasses the original road down to the hairpin, but that road is gone now D26 up to the southern traffic circle by the interchange Go counterclockwise through the traffic circle to have a second chicane Take a left onto the onramp to the E46/N31 westbound Instead of merging onto the highway, turn left to go back east in the "wrong direction" Use the rest of the E46/N31 as a straightaway Put a chicane in the pull-off shoulder area just before you reach the traffic circle with D27 Wrap around the traffic circle clockwise and launch out onto the D27 D27 takes you back to the finish line Could maybe add a technical section (like the Porsche Curves at Le Mans) between the third circle and the start-finish line That would slow cars down coming to the pits and add a bit more diversity to the track layout Not the same course as before, but I think a close enough spiritual successor with some "modern" features like chicanes to slow the cars down.

I missed so much this season, even knowing it's just fictional series, I can feel like it would be something real. Also quite sad knowing that was last race at Reims-Guex

I honestly love Reims, it's pretty straight forward, but drafting down the long straights, and over the hill is always a blast, especially in the older 50's cars. Also the GPL version is really good, it has a really great atmosphere in my opinion, it's very immersive considering the graphical limitations.

Took my 911 gt3 there a few years ago. Drove the circuit and explored the pit buildings. Quite an experience and definitely worth a visit. The approach to the pit and grandstand area along the long straight is spine tingling as the old buildings come into view. Highly recommended.

Me too. Not in a 911 but nice experience all the same, did a lap or two as well. Although part of it has to be done on the motorway so not strictly the exact track. Did Monaco later on the trip as well, although not at any great speed!

Reims gives me nightmares. When I was leading the GBGPL D1 league I was also miles in front at Reims in the height of summer. Took my glasses off on the back straight to clean the sweat off, poked myself in the eye putting them back on, and apparently the field to the right after the hump has no boundary. I was about 3 minutes behind by the time I got back on the track. Lost the title by a couple of points. Booo. You people with working eyes have never had it so good :)

Nice that you managed to get the H-16 BRM into one of your seasons - a real handful. 5th place in that at Reims is nothing to be scoffed at. And Ligier having the race of his life!! Going to be sticking my nose in to see when the Eagle V12 becomes a raceable proposition. Go go Richie Axelson!

Love the wave as you passed Dan Gurney. I'm very glad you weren't struggling round with a 2.7 litre Climax four-banger behind you! However ungainly the handling of the P183, at least it has the power to pull the long gears needed at Rheims. You did very well to bring it home in the points, I could see the effort required to gather it all up through the corners.

Reims really is a track that you'll love when it comes to top speed runs and slipstreaming, but that will change immediately the moment you make a mistake... I remember racing there (just a 25 minute race) with the rFactor's Historic GT and Touring cars mod. I decided to have a Sports Prototype race with Ferrari P330s, Ford GT40s, and some Porsche 906s as back markers to spice things up late in the race... Racing a Ferrari P330/P4, I'm having a good time, put it on pole for the race. On the race, I got into a nice duel with one of the Gulf liveried GT40s that shared the front row with me... Like I said, Reims is fun when it comes to top speed runs and slipstreaming, but not when things go wrong... Down the back straight, I'm doing 195mph with the Ferrari. In the times the GT40 is ahead of me, I could slipstream up to 200mph to pass it. It is a back and forth, high speed duel, and I'm loving it... Then, three laps from the finish, while I'm leading the race, the GT40 judged the back of my Ferrari as were braking towards Thillois, sending me off-road at about 150+mph. Up until now, I don't know how managed not to hit the building on the outside, but by the time I managed to rejoin the track, I'm a distant third. Angry at the incident I unknowingly went full Chris Amon mode, my last three laps were faster than the pole time I posted, but the gap is too big to get to second, let alone to chase down the now-leading GT40 that nudged me off...

Good Memories... Setting up a Wheel in 1999... Driving the Ferrari 312F1... in highest difficulty... only to find out i can't control the Car... Letting the clutch go with to much Pedal to the metal... spins the Car creating a Donut... Going into a curve and let go too much from the Gas... the 312 leaves the track trying to kill you... coming out of the curve... putting to much presure on the Gas Pedal... and off she goes.... remembering driving Nürburg Ring... 23 Kilometer of sheer terror... but so much fun... will reinstall it... Pity that Richie didn't repeat the success of 1955, but I understand it was a different Reims layout back then. And there was the unfortunate return of the gear-crunch courtesy of that most cruelest of motor-racing mistresses Miss Shift. It was weird hearing Guy Ligier's name as a driver, rather than a constructor. Apparently you had to be a former French international second-rower just to handle that big V12 Maserati unit.

Sad there wasn't a 12 Hours of Reims in 1966. Would have loved Ritchie to jump into a second Ford France car to give the GT40 one more shot to roar down the straights.

I know it's waaay offtopick, but would you kindly consider making video about an old rallye sim, "Network Q RAC Rally Championship". Since you got into Riachard Burns Rally. And before that and before Colin Mcrae was this series of games. Maybe not as cool as Nascar 1 or Revs, but quite advanced for the time.
