I am so happy you made this video!!! I am also based in Singapore. One question though, after spending 90 days in France, if I want to apply for the long-stay visa the intended date of arrival in France still has to wait for another 90 days?

HI why didnt you simlply skip the long-term visa step and apply directly for a carte de séjour as a spouse?
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
Hi Adva. 1st, because i am not European. 2nd, I was informed by the embassy as per the new regulations, it's an obligation to present a type D long sejour visa in order to apply for my 1st titre de sejour. 3rd, titre de sejour is only issued upon the 2nd year of living in france. For the 1st year, a long stay visa is required. 4th, application for titre de sejour in france takes long time, if I come with my passport i can stay only for 3 months, if the application takes more than that I will end up overstaying, safest way is to apply long stay visa before arriving in france. 5th, there is a lot of documents needs to be officiate in your home country, you still need to go back if your document is incomplete or didn't meet their criteria, again safest way to apply before moving to france 6th, I get married outside france, marriage need to be taken place in France in order to apply titre de sejour while in France and I must live in France with my spouse for six months - which I can't do so without a long-stay visa. I was advised by the visa consult department in the french embassy in singapore to get the long stay visa type D - vie privee et famillial before moving to france.

Hello! Do we get free healthcare when we first arrive? And how many hours do we need to study French lesson per day?
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
Hi! In order to get the free healthcare you need to apply for your vitale card and get your social security number only then you can get the free healthcare benefits but it's not totally free though, they cover only 70% and not all procedure can be claimed. The other 30% usually are covered by your employer if you are working. Good luck on getting it as I waited almost 3 years for mine as they keep losing my files. For the french lessons hour it depends on your french level. For me who didn't speak French at all when i arrive have to completed 200 hours of classes. If your french is on the intermediate level you need to do only 100 and if you are close to fluent they will ask you to do 50 hours only. If they think you are fluent you might not need to do it but the prefecture will ask for the French lesson certificate when you apply for your visa renewal so usually the OFII will just send you to the classes, how many hours you need to do will be based on the exam marks you took when you go to the OFII to officiate your visa. There's writing and oral test and your mark will determine the hours

Hello Did you submit your original registered marriage certificate from France during your visa application? I am confused because any document submitted during application will not be returned and you cannot lose your document like that… please reply
@haniewinchester43942 жыл бұрын
I submit official copy provided by the marriage registration office. The original i keep with me. Not sure how it works for your country but maybe u can try asking. For me they gave me an official copy with their stamp on it to certified that it is a valid copy

Great video and super helpful....I am presently going through the same process. I would really appreciate your help on which long stay visa I need to apply for in order to be permitted to work as a spouse of a French national. I am just curious cause you said yours allows you to work. I tried the visa wizard but it just said long stay visa and a list of the docs needed...so should I just apply for a long stay work visa or a family long stay is sufficient? Thanks so much for your help.
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
I had visa type D - vie privee et familiale. There's a remark on the visa that indicates you are authorise to work. Long stay work visa can only be applied by your employer which means you have to secure a job and have your employer apply it for you. Spouse of french citizen visa which the one i have allows you to work which means you just have to show your employer the visa to prove you are allowed to work in france, you don't have to apply for seperate work visa. This visa has to b applied by yourself at the french embassy and get it officiate by the OFII once you arrive in France then you are got to go

Hello may i know what will happen if youre staying in france and your type d visa expires ?! Thank you
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
You can request for a renewal at your local prefecture 3 months before your visa expired. You will be issued with titre de sejour, a physical card upon renewal, no more stickers on passport. You will granted 1-2 years depends on prefecture. For me I get 2 years.

@@haniewinchester4394 Can i extend it earlier than 3 months before the expiration date just in case they refuse and flight ticket is expensive. Because i am not sure when they will tell me if it is processed successfully?
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
@@kcgoh2796 not sure about that but you can check with your prefecture as all prefecture works differently so I can't really tell. All I know is they wanted all documents to be dated not more than 3 months, so that's explain why they ask you to come 3 months before the expiry date

I am a student and going for Erasmus in france they gave my long term type D visa can I book a transit ticket from my home country to Italy to france or do I need to land in france first ?
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
By transit do u mean to say that u will be in Italy just for transit and will not be stepping out of the airport? In that case there would be no problem, it would only get complicated if you land in italy step out the airport for a visit or something then fly to france from Italy coz if u fly within European country, you won't get your passport stamped upon arrival. U will need to provide ofii the copy of the stamp from french immigration on your passport with your arrival date in order for ofii to validate your visa so remember to make sure they stamp your passport when u go in.

Im currently applying for my french visa as i am married to a french citizen as well. Were currently waiting for our marriage certificate right now to send to the french embassy in order to get our family book, you said the visa is valid for only 90 days? I live in the philippines, does that mean u had to leave france and then come back again? Or did they provide u with a longer stay in france? We want to live in france for a few years to save money so im not sure if its possible?
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
Nope, 90 days is given when you enter as a tourist without any sort of visa. I mentioned that in my video for people who plan to get the visa done after arriving in france which is not a good idea as it's harder and the process is longer. If you can't get it done in 90 days you have to leave France and if your country is applied under 180 days rule like mine you have to wait another 90 days before you can enter france or any other European country. I applied my long stay visa before arriving in france. They issue me a type D visa for the spouse of french citizens which is valid for 1 year and allows you to work. After the 1 year is up you can apply for renewal there

Why apply for a short stay visa when you can apply for a long one as you are a family member of a french citizen? As far as i know only long stay visa type D can apply for titre de sejour as they specifically asked for it when you submit the application for your titre de sejour

@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
If you are planning to work there, you need to secure a job 1st then your employer will need to apply for your work visa. Another option will be working holiday visa but i am not sure if american citizen is eligible to apply for it. Try checking your home country french embassy website, you should be able to find out which visa you need to apply using the visa wizard

Btw I am a malaysian too and It is good to see a Malaysian living in France. 😂😂 Btw.. I do not speak french at all. Is there anyway to stay there? I am not married with my french wife yet only have my son's birth certificate. I am not looking to become a citizen there. Is that possible not to learn or attend french class there?
@haniewinchester43945 жыл бұрын
Your son is French citizen? If he is then you may apply to live in France as his guardian but it only work is he is a minor. If he is not french than you have no way to live there unless you marry your partner. As i said the visa needs to be applied before arrival and once you arrive you need to get it officiate if not it won't be valid. When you go to officiate the visa there is a compulsory french test and if you don't pass they will ask you to go for the french lessons, you can't refuse unless you have a solid reason. Plus when you want to renew your visa later on it is compulsory to give the french lessons certificate otherwise they won't let you renew.

@@haniewinchester4394 Oh my goodnesss I thought applying for a long stay visa did not need any level of french language? For example, if a person wants to travel there for a long period of time then wouldn't they just check their income and stuff only? I was thinking about using this reason to apply for a long stay visa. so you mean even if the france embassy in Malaysia approves my long stay visa but when i arrive in france i still need to get it officiated by OFII? or it is just for the renewal of the long stay visa once it has expired? Yes my son will be french citizen and he will be born in July 2019. I was thinking about going there on a tourist visa and once i am there i will get my name on his birth certificate and then bring the birth certificate to Malaysia and apply a french visa by using the birth certificate. do you think it would work? I am a bit confused because i asked my french girlfriend to asked about the procedures in OFII and you know the typical french customer service... they give different answers and sometimes do not even bother answer. She has been to OFII branches in Bordeuax and Limoges. Both are equally confusing. Sometimes they say they are responsible to issue the long stay visa applied by birth certificate but sometimes they said it was not handled by them and i need to ask france embassy in malaysia. So I am very confused at the moment
