A purely conservative ideology without the presence of Communist ideology would be too capitalistic and would be unbearable for the general working class whereas a purely Communist ideology without conservative ideology would interfere heavily with religious matters. Becoming far-Right makes you like Hitler whereas becoming far-Left makes you like Stalin. A sane reasonable person would not want either of them.
