I love how polished and retro this looks. My french twists always look so flat towards the crown, now I see the remedy.

I wore French twist for years, putting it up by twisting it like to you do. but the top piece swirled around is what was missing. it really adds an extra je ne sais quoi, no? I love it. Thank you!

Those bangs are kind of awesome and tie into the style perfectly. Thank you for doing a style for thick hair! I watch some of the hairstyle tutorials and they are doing the opposite and adding bulk to their hair whereas I'm lucky is there's enough bobby pins on the planet to hold my hair in an updo.
@Rachelannerox7 жыл бұрын
This was SO HELPFUL! and to all those people saying that this isn't thick... It looks a lot less thick than it is. People don't think I have thick hair until they touch it and feel the WEIGHT. Thin strands but I have A Lot of them.

I'm gonna be honest, I would consider your hair medium length. It's not that I'm saying it isn't long, but my hair goes down to my tail bone. It looks like your (beautiful) hair goes to your shoulder blades. I tried doing this and I had way too much excess and I did this multiple times with the hair tie and different lengths and when I tucked it all in and looked more like a big lump in my hair. I'm glad other people found this helpful though!
@sony7dar7 жыл бұрын
well, any hair stylist will tell u that with hair THIS long, u won't be able to do all the "common"/modern hair styles or updo's in general. u'd have to get rid of some length. namely, get approximately the length of the girl in the video. that's max. OR: u could embrace ur style and do all the other things all the other girls can't do: like GOT-style/middle ages braided masterpieces. you do you. but don't expect things to work when u dont have the right length. same goes for too short hair.
@julijakeit5 жыл бұрын
her hair is medium length. mine goes up to the waistline. I wanted to make a french twist/french cone hairstyle and i see this video will not be helpful for long hair. I would not say it's thick either. Mine is like a lion's mane in comparison.

Wow, that looks so chic & glamorous, I so wish I could wear my hair like that! I have extremely long hair, to my waist nearly, & it's wavy & slippery, & like, spits out bobby pins even if I hairspray the pins first. Also, it doesn't seem to ever want to hold a tease, like I can backcomb the hell out of it, & it just falls & I can practically run my hand right through it. I just can't seem to figure out how to get it to hold a tease & the pins to stay in
@LianneLeong10 жыл бұрын
you may need to texturize your hair? watch my vid on how to thin out your own hair (but maybe get a pro to do it! not everyone knows how.. you can ask receptionists who at the salon is good at razor cuts.) make sure you spray both sides of a strand before teasing, and don't grab too much hair in each pin. good luck!

Thanks! I am a white girl, with thick, straight, yet coarse, blonde hair, and every tutorial I would find the girls had such thin or fine hair (their ponytails were about a third of mine). Seeing this finally helped me to find a way to do a french twist!

I am so glad I found this. I've been trying to do a french twist and it's been so frustrating because I read it was supposed to be easy. My hair is super slipper and heavy and thick, but seeing you do it gives me some inspiration to try again. I can't wait to see how it goes! Anyway, I'm really bad at hair and don't own much stuff. Do you have any recommendations for a hair spray that I can find easily in the US? I don't know if I can find that Japanese brand you used.

her hair isn't SUPER thick but it still seems thick to me... it just looks really straight so there is no volume to show how thick it is. my hair is similar - it doesn't look really thick unless I curl it, but the ponytail circumference is 4+ inches. i don't think this will work if your hair is both really long and thick though.

Teasing is what she does at 3:02 when she looks directly into the camera and smiles. It also apparently has a meaning similar to combing except that when you comb hair you are trying to straighten it and here she's trying to get it to do something else and using hair spray to get it to stick in that position. Basically she is trying to get the hair to stay in place and stiffen up, which is in turn related again to what she was doing at 3:02.
