The nuances of French!!! Another French teacher said "presque" was more common. Can one say, "J'ai failli manger" or must one say, "J'ai presque mangé" ? Thank you so much, Jennifer.

I've known this construction for awhile now, but yes, it's one that seems to slip through the cracks. I saw something somewhere about it and thought "why have I never heard of this before!?". Nice video though for me to review it.

Bonjour. Merci de votre vidéo! (Je l'ai vu sur KZbin.) Vous avez raison. Je n'ai jamais appris ça dans un cours de français. J'ai entendu une amie française le dire. L'autre mot avec lequel j'ai du mal est "hardly". Je pense qu'on dit "à peine". Mais je ne sais pas où le placer dans une phrase. (Peut-être une autre leçon??? 😊)

C'est merveilleux d'apprendre quelque chose de nouveau, surtout quand c'est tellement simple! Tu as raison, on peut traduire "hardly - à peine". Oui.... c'est une bonne idée pour une nouvelle leçon :-)
