The BRICS are extricating themselves from the West's system but that still leaves the system in place and with fewer people to exploit. How can that make it better in a system that has to grow through printing and then more corruption to hide the loot. UNLESS you're saying it's going to fall/fail in its entirety!

Unfortunately, much easier said than done. She mentions Madoff - he was backed by the biggest investment banks as well as hedge funds. Look at Harvey Weinstein - he was backed by the biggest names in Hollywood A-list actors (ex:Meryll Streep) and top directors. everyone in the industry knew or heard of his manners. PBS had a great doc in 2018 about him. the list of examples is long and yet things never change as you will witness about the FTX case and the crypto world.

I never use the automated things. But then i thought would i like to sit behind a pay desk all day saying the same things 500 times while handling 5000 items when you're young and beautiful and you could do something more stimulating or something better for yr future? It's mostly young people who have these jobs (in the NL that is). It's a job only suited for older or handicapped people who can't stand or walk a long time and like to have social contact and not have a brain that needs challenging. Let these youngsters do something else with their time. But to not lose the only pay desk still available i always use that one. I prefer human contact over a machine.@@bbbanks6912

I have to admit, I always use the automated checkout which is limited to 10 items. The people on the checkouts look exhausted and unhappy. I also don't want to wait with my basket for people with trolleys full of stuff. However I only buy products that I cannot get at smaller independent stores.

As a whistleblower myself, the financial, social, mental and emotional isolation by 100% of the people around me is the biggest threat. Because scandal gets clicks and controversy sells, the only interest is from select media. However, I noted that no one was interested in helping me recover from the huge cost of speaking up and this is sociopathic. It's fine to say "this is terrible" but if it's not terrible enough for a single person to contribute a few hours of support or a few hundred dollars and the other side is willing to spend millions to defend the corrupt, then the corruption is enabled by the public at least as much as it is perpetrated by the top. Only when the average whistle-blowers life improves due to everyone chipping in a few dollars will the public deserve to save the tens of billions that it will save from knowing the truth. I'd like to see media networks coordinate gofundme campaigns and track them and follow up in the notes.

Similar experience as a marine scientist in three universities. In these extremely corrupt systems kindergarten minds lie, cheat, steal, fudge and manipulate data to create pseudoscience desperate to be seen as international masterminds saving the environment and humanity. Of course, their stealing, cheating, lying... brings in billions of tax funded dollars to keep these sociopathic narcissists dishonest weasel careers alive. A worldwide phenomena.

The Swiss have shown that the next Hitler will be welcome to hide his death gold and stolen artifacts in their many hidden bunkers. And the French courts seem to display a moral character that mirrors ours in the USA 🇺🇸. The people of the world should all cease showing respect to our national flags when our anthems are played, as a means of silent peaceful protest. Voting has proven to be a fruitless endeavor. It’s also a great opportunity for other governments in Europe and Americas to hire this great woman. She will be an amazing asset to any country. Right now she should be in great demand for a government seeking honest workers. But finding an honest government is probably impossible, sadly. Thanks Chris for this incredible interview.

I hope and believe that tomorrow’s world will be built on a new and stronger base upon the pillars of truth set up by these very courageous whistleblowers. Today’s world is a vile and cruel place. Sadly, it will get more so before truth becomes victorious… for those who survive. ❤

Stephanie is a brave woman of high character. Sad that the very wealthy have the money but not a shred of the character. I so empathize with her position & though I wasn't earning near her level, I suffered for speaking up about what's not right. She's got a wonderful story to tell that the predator class would rather remain secret. It's not like they couldn't live well on what they had. It's never enough for some, they insist on being allowed special privileges, shallow husks that they are. Must be hard to have no intrinsic self worth. I hope the very best for you Stephanie! You've an important story to tell about more than tax evasion, the depravity of those who run our world 😳

******The higher, you move up on the economic scale, the more sociopaths you will come in contact with.****** We are dealing with mentally ill individuals and people with money and power addictions. This has been a problem since the beginning of time. It will not go away. One, we have too many cowards in society. Two, government quickly becomes inapt at conducting any kind of regulatory authority. Three, most people are either ignorant or too lazy to understand how their world is being negatively impacted by these criminals. As Chris Hedges states, yes, we are a mouse screeching against the avalanche. However, screeching we must do regardless!

What a good and brave, heroic woman. I hope she gets some justice. Amazing -- but not surprising -- that our corporate-owned and controlled media will never report this story. Not that my experience was anywhere near as harrowing, but I experienced get crosswise of corporate supervisors working in the American healthcare system on a number of occasions. I was continually amazed at how few people are willing to stand up in the corporate world. It really is a kind of brutal, take-no-prisoner dystopia. Thank you, Mr. Hedges, for this powerful and insightful interview. It is a shame that this woman has had to endure all of these trials, because she upholds ethics in the field that she is in, banking. She highlighted many things that deserve more scrutiny, worldwide. As I have learned throughout my life... follow the money. That is where most of the ill-gotten gains reside, and are protected by the people that not only perpetrate the crimes, but the ones who attempt to hide the maleficence.

My mom and a coworker refused to fabricate false witness statements for their employer and also suffered work related illnesses. Their case was met with a courtroom full of defense attorneys, as it was going to be a massive precedent setting case. But the judge refused to give a pretrial ruling on important issues and even allowed the insurance industry to countersue using a massive, indecipherable abstract complaint as a harassment tool, so both sides settled pretrial. A year or so later, however, a district 9 judge oddly succumbed to the same work related illnesses that many other SF judges were also at risk of. In a flash, the same court system that balked at my mom's and her co-worker's case flipped their stance 180⁰ and ruled in favor of the judge against the insurance industry.

The crippling of legitimate investigative reporters by allowing the merging of massive media networks and the mass firing of said journalists has provided a barrier of concealment that shields their criminal enterprises. The powerful have been fighting against The Enlightenment since The Enlightenment. We in the US don't typically understand for how long this tiny club has been exploiting the whole world, and it is events like this that can give us some notion of the true scale of corruption that literally controls every human life. When you ask, "Why are things the way they are?", the answer is always, "Because that's the way these people want it to be". One of the most important, and rarely mentioned facts surrounding both the global financial collapse of 2008 and the utterly corrupt response to it in 2009, is that all of it was: To first, make these people even more powerful. And second, to preserve their power despite the consequences of those actions.

With coin, connections, crews, clout, computer code, control, communities, and opportunities... you can do ANYTHING you wish. Anything. Without these, though? You're nothing. A simple pawn in a sea of billions. Always remember that 99% of humanity is meaningless to the other, elite 1%. Acceptance is key.

Yes. Blame the West for everything. Arabs snd islam all around the world, but yes, blame the West. I blame religion for overstepping its boundary of life guidelines to becoming lifestyles, behavior, cultures, countries. Religions become a cancer of power enveloping everything in its way. And we wonder why collectively organized manmade religion has created more hate, anger, suffering, torture and death than anything else. Careful where you point your finger.

Because protection for employees is so robust in France, people that the company want to get rid of, and cannot do so legally, often meet this fate; being ostracized, having no work, having heating cut in their office. It’s truly abysmal.

Right after my fellow teacher FINALLY got a permanent contract at our language school (part of French national adult ed, so not a rinky-dink private school), everything went downhill. All he wanted was a little more job security and a few more basic benefits. He was harassed to such an extent he got sick. He died of cancer soon after. I'm sure the ghouls at this school were satisfied.

Dont kid yourself. Read True Believer by hoffer if you want to understand the trumpers and the self interest. And dont foget, the 8 largest banks shortly before 2008, fired or demoted their RISK managers. Each did that and probably more banks as well. Same with the intersst hedging this year. See wall street on parade.

The call it 'mise au placard' (put in a cupboard). You're given your 'own office' (a rinky dink cubbyhole) with nothing to do all day and no one to talk to. As long as you clock in, and sometimes even if you don't bother but go play golf, you get paid but the situation is a killer.

So sad - she is a decent and honest lady who deserves honor! The law was being broken - so she was doing her job - and because of that she was made to feel like an OutKast! This is the chance you take! This is so scary! God be with Stephanie and her family ❤

Mme. Gibaud appeared to have so much more to say. Pity that there was a time constraint imposed preventing her from telling her entire story. Still, I am grateful to the Real News Network to provide a glimpse into the global problem of tax evasion and the treatment of whistleblowers.

Excellent interview and information. I have certainly read and heard justly speak critically about the financial sector, but not people who had first-hand knowledge and experience, employment-related experience. So, it is excellent to have the latter with Stephanie Gibaud. It is a type of racketeering, with employees kept ignorant of the inner workings.
