Excellent information as always. Love option A and option B as a way to lower the cost of the job. So I have a question and a suggestion. My question is how thick are you cutting the sod now that you are applying sand on top of the fabric? My suggestion is for the French Drain man to create a digital code book with install diagrams for your material that can be updated as needed.

I'm not afraid to cut the sod thickly. It actually is easier to handle when it's thick because it doesn't fall apart. It all depends on the type of grass your service area grows. I want the roots to grow through the fabric so that we have excellent water infiltration from the top surface through capillary action and gravity. The water will follow the grass roots. If you put too much dirt on, you're not going to get root penetration into your non-woven geotextile filter fabric that has been double punched.

I’m located in the Columbus, Ohio metro area so we mostly have Kentucky Blue Grass. Currently I cut my sod 1.5 inches thick when installing French drains. Then I install 1 inch of loamy/sandy soil on top of the fabric before reinstalling the sod. I’m wondering if the blue grass will grow well on the the 1 inch layer of sand instead of the loamy soil?

Are the double catch basins just to route more surface water through the system? For a yard drain/french drain combo can you just cap the end of a French drain line near the catch basin and have both yard/french drain lines empty into an outdoor sump basin?

How did the yard drain? I’ve lived in my home in Florida since ‘03, and my back yard turns into a swamp when we get super heavy downpours. There’s just no place for the water to go. And my garage which is in the back yard acts as a dam for water flowing away from the house. Adding to that I also have three leach fields that also add to the whole dilemma. Will you eventually sell this as a package like the gutter pro kit? Or offer a 4 in pipe that is more than just 15ft that doesn’t require pallet shipping (extra $300 for pallet shipping where I live)? That’s the only thing keeping me from investing in this. Completely sold otherwise.

The four-inch pipe is too big and requires freight unless it’s only fifteen feet long. I could make this in a three-inch kit, and it would be twenty-four feet long. I'm willing to do whatever the DIYers and contractors want. I've proven that year after year as I change our kits and make different parts at the contractor's request. All I have to say is, what is your sweat equity and time worth? It's a small price to pay when you look at it as insurance to never having to go back and do it again. It's obvious and well-proven that the big box store parts fail and their pipe fails too.
