I too installed solid 4" pipes off the downspouts and french drains with open pipe / gravel at my previous house, my previous cottage and my new home. Proper water flow management (under ground) should be "minimum code" on all houses. Especially houses on flat land. Thank you for showing us how to install properly. Your team does great work!

The crew does an awesome job and works hard, but I have a suggestion for applying grass seed. Provide them with a hand crank spreader which will apply the seed evenly and produce a much better result in the Spring. Throwing it out by hand is old school, but times have changed...💯

Great news and thank you! Thanks again for reminding me to have may tailor make my custom suit with a non-woven geotextile filter fabric that's been double punched. Originally I was not going to splurge for the double punched option, but am so glad that I did. The suit is stylish, comfortable and very breathable. Only issue is when there is any type of rain, I am immediately soaked because the fabric has the best inlet in the market. But hey....trade offs...right?

Very clean install. That system is going to work great. Won’t the water eventually erode around the corner of the driveway and damage the slab though? I think it’d want to put rock in there and direct it away from the slab.

I filled my CBs with concrete. My sediment smell stayed on my skin for almost two weeks, I think it was the smell of drown worms or something. I think I'm going to switch to vertical-risers along the fence line with bar-guard inlets. I have not yet had any issues with debris inside the pipe, it's the debris that covers the CB which destroy the max intake capacity of my setup.

Yes, the dead worms cause the rancid odor. That's why we use a turf plate on catch basins so worms don't fall in.

Great video. What happens to system when the city requires resident to fix sidewalk and slope/depth/height of sidewalk changes? What if someone removes tree and crowning is no longer issue? Thanks for all the videos!

Could you have run 8 slot next to to the solid making it 4 pipes in the system? If so, what what are trade-off between between more pipe or more stone?

@mysterteacher, In this installation, we were running short of pipe. We had extra stone, and we were about an hour and a half away from our dispatch location.

There's not enough fall. We fought to make the 2-inch line work. We normally like to use a 3-inch line. We had to go to the 2-inch line because the 3-inch line would require a deeper depth, and we didn't have the fall to daylight the 3-inch pipe. The 2-inch line is daylighting above the sidewalk. If we take it below grade and then come back up, we'll have what's known as a belly in the line. Here in Michigan, in the wintertime, that will freeze.

So does that water all drain Post Sump Pump at the curb and hopefully into the storm drain system? Years ago, in Colorado, it seems like I was told that I could not discharge my downspouts into the street. That all water on a property had to be taken care of in that property.

The water runs down to a storm drain. This was permitted in this township.

Is 3 separate drain tiles really necessary? Why not just run 1 main drain line for the basin, roof drain, and French drain system?

It all looks very nice to me. Except where the pipe comes out on the sidewalk, and not at the street. But I will admit it’s not my day job. If it was possible, it would be great to have it on the street. But I’m no specialist! Looks fantastic otherwise
