Thank you for making these videos. Since all the surf/windsurf shops closed up here after the internet boom, there’s no one giving lessons out on our beaches anymore. Magazines all dead & gone too… All that knowledge could disappear.

It's sad to see all the shops and centers disappear, they are still doing well in some windy areas! Anything let me know, I'm happy to help where I can 😁

An excellent treatment, Manu - all the key points are there to help improvers move away from "...you must never use both feet at the same time..." I am glad that you showed light wind and strong wind, the helicopter technique, your use of the floor...well done.

11. To release the rig, pull the sail towards the wind, don't try to just push it up.

This is great stuff, the devil is in the details and I've never seen such detailed analysis. And I've never successfully water-started. Maybe this is the year! Thanks.

Thank you, appreciate the compliment! I find that playing with my sail (on the beach or simply my yard or driveway!) helps improve sail handling technique kzbin.info/www/bejne/fabWqGmZpausn80 I'm sure you'll get it this year, motivated more than ever, happy sailing!

Great tips!! Especially the number 3.. I struggle always with slalom sails (8.4 4 cams) cuz it gets damn heavy.. boom on the board tip can help a lot! I will definitely try that! thnx!

Push the sail beyond the boom where the foot of the sail lines up between the straps. It's usually the first thing I do once in the water. The board does all the work. Then, rotate gear until mast perpendicular to the wind. Lift mast up and go! Having just the boom on the board may create instability catching the wind before the clew is clear. The video shows the boom over the board because I didn't have the sail rigged up. Maybe I clarify this in a v2 video :) !

Thank Manu's 👍tips. i saw another good guy in You Tube call Nicolas share his experience on strong wind with a light short board, that strong wind even blow the short board flip over many times and bottom of the board face the sky, ( refer to below 2 minutes youtube video from Nicolas , or simple search " strong wind waterstart") and I had come across this situation and waste a lot of body and mind energy. Manu 's , may i ask if you come across such situation , what u will do? Again Thanks for you nice tips👍😄

Nice video! Can you make a video about tacking a small board.

Thank you! I do have this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGebY6SEo7eWq68 steps in the description. Place front foot as far to the other side as possible and lean sail back. Then bring sail back in front and across.

Great video. My 50 cents: If you do number 1 and 3, you never do 2 though. That's way I understood it from Guy Cribb.
@manuwindsurfing4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I see many riders going to their mast tip here while there's sufficient wind. Number 2 tip mostly for light winds where the sail fails to lift off easily. Or when needing additional leverage early on while acquiring rig handling finesse basically :)

I know these modes, but this is a good video! The problem is that , young people don't surfing, don't sailing just playing computer and facebook.
