Many of you have asked for a simple and easy place to find all of the supplies that we carry and recommend. Here they are. And our promise to you is this: We will never carry supplies that we wouldn't use on our own animals here at C.B.C. Every single product that we carry, we use. That is why we make em. We get hundreds of question about reptiles each and every week, and time simply will not allow us to answer each one. So we decided to do care videos so that people can view at their own leisure and learn valuable care information about their beloved pets in an environment that is not hostile to newcomers. Our character Philbilly is answering questions in this comedy skit, that is often the way newbies are treated in many reptile forums. Sadly, unlike Philbilly, they are not kidding. We hope that many people will have great experiences with their pets because of our videos. And maybe even get a good laugh every now and then. Thanks for watching...

I love the information in your videos. We just obtained a juvenile bearded dragon but are not exactly sure how old it is. How do I know I am feeding him enough? We feed him three times a day and keep his veggie bowl full. He hasn't thrown up so far which is good and he poops every 1 - 2 days. He seems to eat anywhere from 10-12 crickets or up to 15 mealworms in one feeding. We remove anything he doesn't eat within ten minutes.

Hi, my bearded dragon occasionally goes periods without eating much at all. He is around 4 months old. I have all the right equipment for his tank, and he is a very friendly and happy dragon. I feed him crickets and mealworms (varying) and salads and he does not seem to go to for the salad much at all, and sometimes will not eat any crickets or mealworms. I mist his salad and make sure to feed the insects calcium supplements. Are there any reasons to this behavior? There is always food offered to him, but he occasionally stops eating for a day or two, and then continues a regular eating pattern for a couple days. Do you have any insight to why this might happen?
@austinrendon65175 жыл бұрын
I also make sure to keep all the insects at the right size for him to consume.
@stephanies96895 жыл бұрын
Use the right size bugs (no larger than distance between dragon's eyes), vary their diet (dubia roaches, hornworm, silkworm, superworm, whatever), and dust with calcium in addition to gut loading. Finely chop veggies, use lots of variety, and don't offer bugs in the morning so they'll eat their veggies. You can offer just plants for a few days if they still won't eat plants, but your dragon is still growing and needs lots of plump bugs for now. If they stop eating and it's not because of hibernation, ask a vet. But yeah, long story short, do your research.

What is your opinion on bioactive habitats for bearded dragons? I would like my future dragon tank to be green with living plants and a realistic looking source of water.
@stephanies96895 жыл бұрын
Bearded dragons need humidity between 30 and 40%, any more and they start getting respiratory issues. If you want standing water, get a turtle; they love that, a beardie probably won't.

I had a very scared dragon who I rescued from a very abusive situation couldn't touch her for several months after I had brought her home or she would bite you. In my case, I already had other dragons and I had a very confident another female who be scared, not aggressive but scared abused dragon would watch as I interacted with and I'll let this happen on purpose because ugh dragons do learn from watching each other. The fours, several weeks and so that she could see that I wasn't going to hurt, I wouldn't hurt the other dragon. And it did help to let them buddy around together outside of the enclosure, and eventually the 2 became such good friends that now they prefer being in the same occlosure, having the more confident dragging around, helped the scared dragon. And after several months and lots of Patience as well as therefore, while if I put my hand in the cage, I would only do so if I had food in it so she started associating my hand with yummy bugs, and not then i'm going to grab her and throw against the wall with she had unfortunately, had happened to her in her previous home now she's one of the most loving bearded dragons I have. She absolutely loves being with humans and on our shoulders. But it's going to take lots of time and patience, if you've got a scared dragon, that's scared like I did

I feel special, when I got home with my beardie, I went to put him in his tank and decided to "pour" him out of the container from the pet store into my hand, and he laid there and closed his eyes like he was falling asleep, I haven't seen anything resembling aggression from him in the 4-5 hours I've had him, he might just like me, he did get excited when I walked by him at the pet store, I wasn't even planning on buying one, I was there for flea spray and joint medicine for my senior dog and walked out with a bearded dragon and everything I needed to start out 🤦🏻♂️😂 along with the other stuff I was there for of course, now I need to come up with a name for him 🤔

My bearded dragon is as healthy as can be but there's one problem, he seems to be afraid of heights. Every time I pick him up he swings his tail in a circle, flattens out and spreads his legs. But when he's on my shoulder he's completely fine. He only does that when I pick him up with my hand. It doesn't matter how close to the ground he is, he always does that. He has a good relationship with me I just don't think he trusts me picking him up even though I've never dropped him. I don't know how to fix this, can someone please tell me?

@@trinityturner7188 @ kinda want to tag along with the vitamin question, i am new as well. I got the powder and the instructions are meh. It just says put crickets in a bag with some powder and shake it. Now they look like powdered donuts. And then i tried to grab em out to put in the tank for my dragon and had pwder falling off my fingers. Plus they jumped in his water dish so i had to save the dumb crickets from drowning. I now know to take the dish out. But still a bit unclear on sugar coating the crickets with the vitamin powder. Also if i switch to just meal worms like 1 of his videos recommends do i coat the mealworms instead? Its my first day and the crickets LITERALLY WERE stright up white when i dropped em in the dragons tank. I know powder falls off as they move around the tank so i am not sure if i over did it or not. Sorry i just dont want to make my new buddy sick cuz im a putz😕

I know that this is a topic that has been hashed rehashed and then asked again, but... I have a bearded dragon and a Russian tortoise and there is so much conflicting information out there as to what vegetables they can and cannot eat for various reasons. It seems that there are the obvious things to avoid such as onions and lettuces of different types but other than that everything seems to be up for grabs. For example doing my research on some sites they say it is okay to feed spinach and others say no some say it's okay to feed broccoli or cabbage others say no. Some say beet greens are great others say no they are dangerous . This whole oxalates thing has me confused. I would request a video on this specific topic of what you can feed and should not feed bearded dragon or Russian tortoises. I trust in your experience and your information that's the reason I am asking you to to make a video on this topic. Thank you and I will be watching.

I noticed he doesn't act this way with other people such as other members of my family. He also poops on me sometimes. He does poop in his enclosure so it's not like he's refusing to go in his enclosure. Does this behavior mean that my bearded dragon is comfortable with me?

If anyone can help me out how many super worms should you feed a adult bearded dragon and how often?
@stephanies96895 жыл бұрын
Like he said, use your common sense. If they don't eat it all, eat and vomit, or gets kinda fat, reduce the number of worms next time. If they're losing weight (scales that measure in grams are all over Amazon) then offer more. An adult should be eating more like 20-30% bugs and 70-80% vegetables, so really focus on offering a variety of tasty plants.

I love the Philbilly skit, but on a serious note, I bet this was at least somewhat based on reality. I used to work at a mom and pop petstore. People would come in and see an animal and the first thing you would hear is, "Well BIGBOXPETSTORE has 'em for cheaper..." And after wasting our time answering their questions they would leave and some of the real cheap asses would go buy from BIGBOXPETSTORE. Then these same people would have the gall to come back asking us to help them with an animal that they didn't even purchase from us and get MAD if we didn't answer their questions or told them to go back to the store they bought it from. These people are parasites. They want all of your time and knowledge but give nothing in return. And they think they are ENTITLED to the same care that we would give to our actual customers.

You guys are in the herp hobby yet you sell snake skin products?
@ColdBloodCreations5 жыл бұрын
That's right! But you've probably got the wrong idea... ALL of our products are made from animals that died naturally. We do not believe in killing animals for their skins. We are involved in the herp hobby, as you said, and we know plenty of breeders. Unfortunately, reptiles do not live forever. When said breeders (or sometimes pet owners) have an animal that dies, rather than throwing its body in a dump somewhere, they bring the deceased animal to us so we can preserve its beauty.
