You can try to wet your fingers with water to smooth the outside of the patch. The edges around the patch will adhere more and give it a smooth finish. Just try a very small area on your next project if you don't believe me.

You can also make your own ABS putty/glue/slurry for repairing holes and cracks. Simply take 20 or 30 ABS scrap pieces the size of pennies, put them into a glass jar, and pour in 1/4 cup of MEK (methyl ethyl ketone - its a cleaner/degreaser available at most hardware stores). Stir the mixture and let sit over night with the lid on. The next day you should have an ABS paste/slurry that you can use to repair holes and cracks that will bond with the existing ABS forming a water tight repair.

Love your camper repair series . I might have trimmed some of the excess plastic off of the tank to clean up the wounded area. Also check the installation area to see if something was rubbing or polking into your take to cause the damage.

I used it to seal a hole that had rusted through on a water pump on our ground source heat pump and it has worked flawlessly. It holds up the PSI no problem. That was like 2 years ago. It’s as hard as a rock

@@sportsdude716 I am hooking up a brand new potable water tank, got all the pluming in and the lowest corner weld by the manufacturer leaks in the tightest spot to get to. I am going to try this stuff but it is good to see your positive results.

The packaging (and website) says it's a skin, eyes, respiratory hazard and to wear gloves, goggles, etc. Did you find it irritating on your skin?

Theres two types i see from jb weld: Steel stik and water weld. So im assuming water weld is meant for repairing water pipes or whatever relating to water? And the steel stik is for steel dry applications?
@chrisE8152 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think thats accurate but the steel version has reinforcements mixed in to give you a stronger but probably less flexible result

No worries, I left it there to provide more grip or whatever for the putty. Chances are no one will ever see it as it's a water tank for under a camper lol. If it was visible I would have made it look nice.
