Good information. How would you repair a tank that female fitting for drain has broken?
@rodneylovin17983 жыл бұрын
When you are melting the outer edge of mesh are you just heating up tank plastic to melt in or using plastic rods.

I have about a 3ft crack in a blackwater tank (looks like it's HDPE). Think this would fix it? Or is there a better solution?
@shannonitaliano10893 жыл бұрын
Can this be done on a black tank …in place ?
@JeepinBoon2 жыл бұрын
If you can fully access the crack, yes.

Hi Brent...I want to add a plastic drain plug to my RV fresh water tank at the lowest middle sag point so that I can fully drain it in the winter instead of tilting the RV to get it to drain...can you help?

Is the tank itself Polypropylene?
@airpilikia3 жыл бұрын
Did you use the PP welding rod that came with the kit? It doesn't look shinny like the welding rod in the video. I don't need a large amount that you link to from amazon. I am trying to fix a water tank just like the one in the video. Thanks
@First_Class_Amateur3 жыл бұрын
The best repair will use the same plastic you’re making the repair on. I didn’t know what came with the kit, so I ordered some to be sure.

Tanks always seem to crack in the worst place. Inside edge with no back access.

Why the need for the butane torch? Why not just use the plastic welder and skip using the butane torch?
@First_Class_Amateur4 жыл бұрын
The torch quickly heats up both surfaces (the repair rod and the tank) to bond them together. You could use just the welder, but it would take much longer to build up the patch. Brent

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm debating plastic welding mine or fiberglass patch. Mine has 3/8" hole in the bottom covered by a janky old silicone over fiberglass cloth patch which started leaking on me. Plastic welding seems like the better solution so far, just need to get the tools.
