First: Props to Miyako, who despite not having the connections her husband had, still managed to keep afloat a company in the hyper-political entertainment industry of Japan, while raising the two kids she adopted by herself. As far as I am concerned the twins had 2 good moms at this point. Second: Aqua hearing Ruby going to be like mama probably sounds different to him than what Ruby probably ever mean. Both experienced their mother's death very differently, Ruby saw nothing but heard Ai's beautiful loving words while Aqua saw blood as the life drained from his mother and as her vivid gaze turned lifelessly haunting. Ruby only found out her mom was dying, Aqua witnessed the whole perpetrator motivations, Ai's pain and full process of death. To Ruby, to be like her mother, means following her career footsteps and become an accomplished Idol as she could unlink her death from her job. To Aqua he is probably hearing stalked, harassed and becoming dead as shit since the mastermind behind their mother death is still roaming and will probably target her as she become a public figure and he can't unlink from his mind the awful realities of her job that enabled such an outcome.

I like how their past lives influence Ruby and Aqua's worldviews, as an adult the doctor would naturally be more jaded about the real world (also enterianment idustry), while Ruby died as a child before, so she didn't have to deal with those parts of reality (not to say she didn't have it rough but she would just have less knowlegde about the real world of buisness)

The first episode is like a movie level production. The emotions, the art of each scene and the death scene of Ai is so gorgeous

If you search for Oshi No Ko 45510 (the number in the opening, it's the passcode to B Komachi's old blog), Akasaka released a short story from the perspective of one of the old members logging into the blog many years later and recalling her feelings about Ai. There actually was a lot of pent of animosity towards Ai from the other members, because Saito made it clear that Ai was the centerpiece and they were the backup dancers. They grew distant with Ai over time compared to how they were during the beginning. Even though Ai had trouble with her feelings she still really hated how they had all drifted apart.

I like how it's implied that a feeling of being less than perfect is what's keeping Aqua from trying to act again, or even diving into it. If you're in any creative field you know that feeling.

this episode didnt disappoint and i didnt notice any drop in quality. my friend that read the manga said it only gets better so if it can maintain this quality i can consider it anime of the year

Hot take: Oshi no Ko's "first episode" should have had a theatrical release instead of Demon Slayer. both were 3-4 episodes combined into one, created to set up the following season...except Demon Slayer was an example of how you do it wrong. I mean two-thirds everyone already saw...including "end credits" and the last 3rd is just the first episode that everyone will rewatch in a few weeks. If you're not someone who watched the anime. You're probably scratching your head after the first end credits wondering why you're 30 minutes in to an hour long fight scene with next to no context why it's happening. Whereas Oshi no Ko...that first episode is how you do a prelude movie. Probably would have been a contender for "best animated movie" at the Oscars....you know what. I'm going to push for it right now. Give episode 1 of Oshi no Ko a theatrical release. I'll rewatch it. At the very least it could win the Crunchroll awards for best movie 2023.

The directors Mom barging in is the biggest C-Block moments, funny moments. If you pay attention at the signing of Ruby there is 2 contracts on the table. Also he says he cant work on scene due to his age during his inner monolog.

Ruby is so adorable. She is childish even in her teen state which I adore. Aqua is basically a grown up lol and I laughed pretty hard at the director's mom busting in on him. When he asked if Ruby had the same intellect I was thinking .... yeah ... no... lol

I was so frustrated with Aqua in this one. He was sabotaging his sister’s efforts and nearly pushed her into an unfavorable situation, despite seeing and hearing how determined she is. Then, there was how he thought he wasn’t talented as an actor, when, all it was was his focus being elsewhere, so, he didn’t put forth much passion or effort for what he was doing. I get that his priority is tracking down their father, but it doesn’t mean that he should deprive himself of a few joys in life.

There are male idols, but I think they're not as common in Japan as in Korea. Don't take my word for it though, I'm not very familiar with idols in general. I have seen a bunch of Kpop songs from male idol groups, but I don't remember seeing any jpop ones, that's why I think it isn't common there. I only know they're common in Korea.

I've read the manga and honestly i can't stand aqua there like he's to edgy like bro chill, so i stopped a few chapter after this But the anime actually handle it pretty well,i even wonder what i even thought about back then and maybe also i dislike the artist's other works (kuzu no honkai) so that's kinda played a role too
