Fretboard Bites: Damping/ Muting
A short video on how to get a clean sound during your playing, through damping unwanted resonances. I teach many students that know how to do it, yet don't! and I teach many students that would like to damp extraneous ringing on of sounds, yet find it tricky. This basic exercise is an excellent warm-up for the ears and of course fast, nifty thumb work. Plenty of our classical guitar repertoire uses the major and minor chords of D, A and E, so unless we are careful, it is generally these bass notes that can linger on far too long and muddy otherwise good playing.

Thank you for this piece of wisdom I didn't know it was called damping though I have always applied this technique in my playings. For me it was just muting the strings.
