@UCkCZMXWyDeW_3WkMnTgATyg The top string isnt even on the fretboard, the next string is normal and the one after that is slanted across half the fretboard, he is using the slanted string like the singing string on a sitar. Then he has thre more normal strings. I bet this cannot be played in any sort of commonly used guitar tuning eighter. Plus its fretless, but thats one of the only modifications on this instrument that people normally do. You dont see how that would affect play? At all? This is impressive you negativity spreading disfunctional floormop, and if youre gonna say anything different id like to see you try this yourself.

@@samuelzetterman i dont think is a negative opionon he had, and also i think he is right. first of all do you play guitar? if you do you would understand this, there is only one string that is off and it is the A string that goes on the D slot on the Nut, therefore the playing is only affected a little bit by that and the frets. there is no reason to change the tunning but he probably did and that doesnt affect your playing at all you just need to understand more music theory. and then there is the E string on top wich doesnt bother att all the other srting and is tuned like a top base string. and then the different type of string he used, but fundamentally is like playing a weird guitar, if you know how to play guitar with just a lillte practice you could play that, is not hate or anything but is not the skill of his playing that he is showing on the video he is just showing the sound of his creation

Years ago, I converted an acoustic guitar to a similar design, sarod-like, resonating strings included, but it didn't play very good (this one in the video is way better, sounds like a vichitra veena). So I converted another one without putting resonating strings, to be played slide, lap style, with four playing strings tuned D A D G and two "chikari" strings. The "indian guitar", or mohan veena, is very close to it and is played slide lap style too.

Thats because it works on the principle of a sitar. Look the sitar up and see the action this guitar has is kinda similar to that of sitar’s action which is far off from the fretboard (sitars dont have actual fretboards tho). Pandit Ravi ji is always amazing. A pinnacle of Indian classical music and so is Norah.

@@blushiro29 , it has a sitar's Buzz Bridge. It is that white rectangle on the arm thing with the extra tuners. Also, I can easily see why there are only a few .009 strings on there too. Despite the shirtless thing though, it is a pretty amazing axe and sounds pretty cool.

@@caboosethemoose2070 i feel like it is but also isn’t. traditional fretless guitars should still play the right notes in relation to a fret, so if the note is in the proper place but rings out sharp or flat, it’ll probably be more annoying to properly intonate since you have to play the same place, but you do get the benefit of being able to slide up or down to correct the pitch on the fly🤷🏾‍♂️

Cool sound - kind of like an Oud. I looks like you modified a 12-string and made it more like a harp guitar. Amazing grace would probably sound great, and some celtic tunes as well.

Very cool! Is there a reason you have what would be the A string cross-threaded like that?
@zed739
@zed739 2 жыл бұрын
Keith Richards (his problems aside) would take the bottom string off entirely. Looks like this guy just shifted his bottom string off the fretboard, but either way it just provides a little extra space between the strings and makes finger positioning a little easier. That's why I would do it, anyway.
@Jay-st6sl

@@zed739 I think its supposed to be one of those bridge things that give sitars their buzzy sound. Like, if you look at the sympathetic strings on the top they have a giant bridge piece, I think the block of wood acting as a huge saddle is supposed to do the same thing? idk just a guess
@andrewwagner6851

@@Jay-st6sl the buzz sound is because the instrument is fretless. When the string rotates as it’s played it barely contacts the fretboard past the note held and buzzes

@@andrewwagner6851 Not with that angle. Plus a fretless fingerboard usually tends to attenuate the 2nd harmonic. Those overtones sound like there is a jawari-type bridge in play, like Jay wrote.
