I was good friends with Chris Tucker for a couple years before this came out, and he had NO IDEA that it would be what it became. He'd already shot "Dead Presidents," and he was SO excited to have done a movie with the guys (Hughes Brothers) who made "Menace II Society," (which was coming out in October) and all of his career thoughts were about that, so when we went to the premiere for "Friday" in April, there weren't a whole lot of expectations. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It's almost impossibly cute to think about it now, but the next day, (the day "Friday" came out), Chris and I went to the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood (where the premiere had been the night before.) It was the middle of the day, but he still made me jump out of his Land Cruiser (what he was driving at the time) and ask the box office person how the sales were going. A pair of young people happened to be buying tickets for "Friday" - and I directed them to Chris - who was illegally parked while waiting for me. They were overjoyed to meet him, and he was beyond happy that they were buying tickets. His life completely changed after that movie came out (no argument about that), but nobody who was around at the time could have predicted it 🙂... as evidenced by the fact that Chris never did any of the Friday sequels; his career outgrew the 'hood just that quick 🤷🏽‍♀️.

@@mrflickswatches I hadn't seen Friday for a long time before I watched your reaction and it was funny to see him do his MJ bit. He and I were both lifelong fans loooooong before Chris ever knew they'd be friends. We once went on a mission to find MJ at a party Magic Johnson threw for the opening of his theater complex in 1995 because Chris heard he was stashed in one of the theaters (we weren't successful 😔, but MJ was at the party ☺️). They didn't meet until sometime after Rush Hour came out... and then Chris took me to Neverland for five days in 2002 (supposedly to work, but we didn't get much done 😆; got to see MJ be a regular dad and everything 🤯). Btw, I'm glad you finally watched Friday 👍🏽.

Nia long and ice cube are both in are we there yet and the sequel are we done yet 2. the whole bye felicia moment wasn't scripted! and then In the movie Straight Outta Compton (2015), Ice Cube (played by his son, O'Shea Jackson Jr.) said, "Bye, Felicia!", when throwing a girl named Felicia out of his hotel room. Naming the girl Felicia was not an intentional reference to Friday, but when Jackson ad-libbed the line as a "coincidental joke", the filmmakers decided to keep it in the film
