Hello. I live in Spain and I want to say you that I use the knot for the flies since you put your vídeo by KZbin. Its the best knot ever I see. Thanks for every vídeo. You are the number one. 💪💪💪

Brother, that is the best knot tying video I have ever seen! The ropes you used were distinctive and it was easy to follow. Additionally, your explanation of every step as you were performing the tying of the knots was clear and understandable and you explained why you were doing each step and what knots were used for what and why. Excellent!

I usually do not watch these knot videos, because I thought i knew all the essential knots for fishing. I was wrong. The double davey blew my mind :D thank you for sharing this. I will use it tomorrow while fishing, after devastating 34days of lockdown. Keep up the good work!
@straubdavid92 жыл бұрын
I use the blood not on larger diameter line connections because it is a smaller knot when you are finished, without the bulk. But when connecting smaller diameter tippet material I like to use the surgeons knot for a faster tied knot, and the bulk is not an issue. Take care .... your vids are some of the best quality on KZbin.

Alex you're the man, I've been looking for an alternative to the clinch knot and the double davy looks to be my new leader/tippet to fly knot. This video is getting sent to a couple newer fly fishermen I've been helping learn the craft and will definitely help me teach them each knot. Thank You!

Nice one Alex. I've been using the double davy for a while, and can attest to its strength. I used to experiment with a clinch knot to a tippet ring, or double clinch to leader, and double davy on the fly. The clinch would usually break first

Right that’s it I’m giving the lefty’s loop and blood knots another go - good idea nailing a few before getting to a river. Double davey also looks like a winner. Perfection loop is the only one of these I use currently, is it fiendishly difficult to tie around an existing loop? If you are looking for Friday filler ideas then I’d love to hear you thoughts on how to sneak up on fish in clear water without spooking them, which riffles allow for closer sneaking etc. Cheers as ever 👍

Just that the lefty’s loop gives the streamer a bit more movement and action that’s all mate
@malcolmwilliams39684 жыл бұрын
Good stuff, have used all those for a while with one exception. Why a double blood knot rather than a water knot? I find it really good unless the tippets being joined are radically different in diameter. Keep it up, love it.

Now my final dropper is 6x or 5x tippet into a perfection loop to which I attach split shot if needed, this should be aprox 8” from my first bottom fly. Split shot touches the bottom, bottom fly up aprox 8” hit the trout head on.

Fly to the tippet, non slip loop knot. Never fails gives the fly much more movement and action.

@tylervisina314 жыл бұрын
One more, sorry! Thoughts on tippet rings? They seem convenient for changing tippet, but I find that unless I go way smaller size for a dropper/second nymph, if I get a snag or tangle it tends to break at the ring effectively losing two flies.

Appreciate these educational style vids! Two questions: 1. For blood knots, clinch, uni, and others that involve multiple wraps, I typically use a minimum of 3-4 wraps for anything 3X or larger, and for 4X and smaller I will use as many wraps as the number of the tippet (i.e. 5X, 5 wraps, 6X, 6....). I typically have more issues with breaking knots off on snags than I ever due on a knot slipping. Do you have any rules of thumb for number of wraps? 2. For blood knots, I've never understood the why it is better to have the tags coming out opposite sides of the knot versus same side? Have you ever seen this tested? I guess I could envision one end slipping, and if its on the opposite side, the friction could effectively tighten the other knot on the opposite running side, but that seems unlikely. I follow the rule, but am curious as to why. P.S. Double Davy for the win. Learned it from you at some point in the past and it is my go to for any non-streamer fly. So much quicker than others!
@tommymac67204 жыл бұрын

Does anyone have experience with the loop knot using 5x tippet or smaller? I almost always get breakoffs when hooking bigger fish, whereas stouter tippets do just fine. It just seems loop knots are much weaker than snug knots when using light tippets, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised when he talked about using that loop knot for his streamer and saltwater fishing.
@simonsmith93634 жыл бұрын
Why not the perfection loop for your fly as you are already using it? The Rapala knot is OK but the perfection loop is better on test. Joining lines of different diameters the Uni knot excels, it's easy to tie in the dark too. No mention of the Palomar either which is odd.
@TrippinOnTrout4 жыл бұрын
I just like the double Davy more 🤷♂️ I am in no way saying that these knots are the best or that you shouldn’t use others. These are just the ones I use and like, that’s all.
