Bonnie, you are soooo very right about avoiding a color-changing yarn for your beautiful cabled patterns! 👏🏻👏🏻🤩💯🏆🥳🎉🎈👏🏻👏🏻 The spots/blotches created by color-changing yarns cannot synchronize with the various cable formations, so those color spots interrupt the brain’s “attention” to see the intricacies and flowing curves of the cables. Easy test: cover a cabled item with a very large piece of paper with only a 1”x1” hole. Can you really appreciate the cables and stitch patterns when so little of it is visible?! I doubt it! And even a 4”x4” hole is not big enough! Therefore a solid colored yarn is best because it allows the brain scan more of the item and to view the entire stitch pattern, and repetitions of it, without interference of color changes. 👵🏻❤️

EXACTLY!! Definitely save the color-changing yarns for simpler designs where the yarn can shine and not compete for the eye's/brain's attention. Lots of neuroscience in your answer!

Yes, happens here and there to many of us designers. We live in a fallen world, but all things will be made right on THAT day! This truth gives me great peace!
