Yeah, not gonna lie, this is my favourite of the Smash games. Not to say anything less of 64 or Melee, because they're both fucking amazing. But even if Brawl isn't as "competitive" as Melee, that's the thing: I'm just not that competitive of a guy. I play the Smash games to have fun with my friends, I ENJOY the randomness and the items (even if tripping can go fuck itself), it had the tightest roster (in my opinion), it introduced Final Smashes, and the amount of content in Brawl is just ABSURD. That being said, I understand why people would prefer Melee from a competitive standpoint. Melee is a superior FIGHTING game, that much I can't deny. But Brawl just appeals to me more.

Brawl *was* cool but then i took my nostalgia glasses off and saw how mediocre it is. more characters and content yeah, but it ain't shit when you come down to it. When you unlock something "yeah, cool, now what? should i stare at it?'. same with the 45sec-2min demos . Subspace was for shit and giggles and only because we've never seen the characters interact with each other like in the cutscenes. That's it. Gameplay? It's smash bros: on the moon edition where you apparently trip and magic balls spawn, nuff said.
