I've just realized something. BF couldn't defeat them, as even a perfect play results in a tie, that part has been well already pointed out. But consider that fact a tie also means that they couldn't defeat BF. In the end, the final song of mario madness is not about you beating up the final boss, but facing off those who are titled "the unbeatable" and then prove yourself to also be an unbeatable performer.

I do like how it used some of the tricks old Nintendo games used to make things harder. One hit deaths, getting hit by something you had no way of knowing the first time and of course, the game blatantly cheating. It really feels like a good throwback.

This song just nails how well Mario's Madness balances songs in terms of difficulty. For the final song, this genuinely felt so fun because I don't think I've ever felt so determined to beat a song before. It replicates that intimidating quote in the original commercial, "YOU CANNOT BEAT US", which just determines players to try as hard as they can to beat the seemingly unbeatable song.

What I loved about this song is that, despite my skill issue not letting me get past the no-miss section, I actually realised I could use the "call luigi" mechanic (botplay) skillfully (or at least it felt skillful and that's what matters), by turning it on only when health was low or draining, then playing without it when the song got less treacherous. So even a mediocre player like me could enjoy the song in its entirety.

It's poetic in a way. Boyfriend is one of the most unkillable protagonists. Even when he meets his match, he (usually) finds a way to overcome them. In some cases, he is even interpreted as the villain or a straight up menace. Here we have these condescending jerks that you are eager to see a character like Boyfriend beat. It's unheard of to see Mr. Sys and the Nintendo crew look worried like they might actually get beaten when you perform well during the song.

The mix of real words in the song that also go to the beat, more like adlibs than actual lyrics, help make this song bang so goddamn hard as it’s easily recognizable, making it super easy to listen to. It also helps the song have variation, as it being only chromatic sounds would make the song boring due to its extreme length. Even so, they change up the chromatics multiple times during the song to continue to mix it up, letting the song never be boring. Truly a masterclass song when you think about it, it’s always good, never a part that’s notably weaker than the others as multiple people worked on it too. This is top tier

I've been OBSESSED with this song the past week. Just a couple of my own observations: The climax (10:15) is especially awesome because it's basically a remake of the original commercial, almost line-for-line. It's one thing to use lines from another source and sample them into a song, but it takes an insane amount of creativity to realize the musical properties of the whole commercial. There's also that little bit before that when the Nintendo crew is going all out (10:03). For the past 10 minutes, they have taunted BF with "cannot beat us", but so far all 3 of them have failed to beat BF themselves! So now it is BF's turn to fire back with "cannot beat us". Anyway, that's probably enough, but yeah; this was my favorite song of the mod by a good margin.
