I love the fabric and the finished hoodie for your daughter! As far as the square-necked tee, it is amazing how supposedly simple things can turn out to be not so simple...but your pattern matching was perfect so you've got that nailed down and I'm sure you'll figure out everything else when you start making it for yourself - good luck! Love the hoodie and fabric Carol. My most favourite square neck top is the Pattern Scout Brigit Tee, it is so easy to do.

Thanks Libby. I've seen the Pattern Scout Brigit Tee and I have to admit, I'm tempted to buy it. I'll keep it in mind for next Spring. You're one of several who have recommended it!

Darts can always be pivoted out to the bottom and then take in the sides to get out the excess. If your fabric is stretchy enough, you could go smaller in the bust because it will stretch enough. When you do that you may have to lengthen the front to make room to go over your bust.

Thanks Roi-lynn. I think I might try a couple of FBA methods with the Islare pattern. I'll try the dart the way the pattern was designed, but I'll also try rotating the dart out, and another method of just adding length in the front at the bust, creating a little side bubble at the point where extra length was added and then stretching that area when sewing the side seams. It will be interesting to see if there's any difference and what method works the best. You're so knowledgeable!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the Islares. I bought the pattern when it came out so got it on sale and I really want to make it this month. I’ll keep this video in mind when I make it. Cannot wait to see your Stanton in that beautiful fabric. I had to laugh when you talked about a white button up shirt because I need one of those too. Hi Izzy. Well I'm going to attempt the Islare this weekend. The full bust option has me sewing a dart and although I can make pivot it out, I want to make it up exactly as the instructions say because I'm comparing it to the Carlyle (also making this weekend). Looking forward to your Friday Sews video tomorrow. I still need to watch your sewing room tour - hopefully I'll catch up with everything this weekend!

@@pollysews I ended up making the Islares and it turned out way too fitted for me. The fabric I chose didn’t help - a very thin French Terry that clung to every single lump and bump. Wasn’t pretty LOL Also, the neckline was too wide for me and gaped A LOT! Anyhow, it’s in the recycling bin right now. 😕

Lovely fabrics, Carol. 💗 I haven’t tried square necks in knits, only in wovens. I tend to avoid facings and do a lining instead. That’s just me, trying to make things easier on myself. 😂 Does that pattern have reasonably sized facings that won’t flip out? 🤔

Hello Lynn. Yes the Islare pattern has a pretty good sized facing, but I'm with you - I'd prefer to do a lining. Just not a fan of facings. The sew you at six sweatshirting looks lovely and the hoodie for your daughter looks very professional. I think the Stanton will look great on you in those colours. I have been tempted by the see you at six fabrics. Would you recommend them?

Hello Sarah! Thank you on the compliment on my daughter's hoodie. I'm looking forward to making the Stanton Hoodie too! I really like the See You at Six fabrics; and although they're a bit expensive, I find the quality worth it. I've worn and washed last year's Stanton hoodie made from a see you at six french terry and the fabric looks like the day I bought it. It hasn't faded, or lost it's shape. Plus I like that they make little capsules of matching fabrics so I can always find a coordinating fabric and some matching rib knit. I would recommend their fabrics! Happy sewing!

Carol, I'm interested in seeing the pattern thrown own. Can you please show how you finish off the top of the zipper on the hoodie for your daughter. I've had this issue before and it ends up looking messy on the inside. Suzanne

Hi Suzanne - sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I'll show you how I did the top of the zipper on my daughter's hoodie in my next video. I made the hoodie for me several years agon and the top of the zipper really didn't look that great, but because it's similar to how I had to finish my bomber jacket, I think I did a better job this time. Not perfect, but better.

Carol, Me again. I think the Donny shirt is a good pattern, but I was disappointed with the fit. It's a casual top with no bust darts. On me, there is a bit of pooling between the armhole and the bust. Thought you might want to know this before you cut into that pretty white fabric. Personally, I think this pattern looks best in a lighter weight fabric. Suzanne

It wasn't Princess Diana - although I'm sure she'd thought that a million times - lol. It is a line from Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Darcy is talking about Elizabeth Bennett's looks (and she can hear him talking) and he says, "She's tolerable, I suppose".
