Friday Warbird Demos - Airshow London 2024

Warbirds perform during the Friday show at Airshow London 2024, including two performances by the Spitfire and P-51 Mustang, as well as the Hawker Hunter from ITPS and the T-33 "Red Knight" from the Jet Aircraft Museum.

The Spitfire is such an elegant aircraft, while to me the Mustang looks more menacing. The designers of the Merlin engine deserve our highest respect!

this Spitfire has a Griffon engine not the Merlin.

@@sheeeene7 completely different design rotates opposite direction to the merlin and nearly 10 litres larger displacement originally designed for naval aircraft

That first pair take-off sure gives an impression of the brute power of the Griffon. It slowly built revs and the plane acellerated quick with full rudder to stay str8. Then the Mustang goes by at full strain from the start and wasn't even going as fast. The normally beastly blatt of the Merlin almost sounded 'Mousie' on this occassion. 1:48 The Mustang skidding to stay in formation 😮😁what a slippery airplane!! I guess the Spitfire is just clawing its way through the sky regardless to its vertical energy, with the Mustang carrying on like a waxed bobsled.
