What I tell people is this. Maradona/Pele used to be regarded as the best player in the world. But it wasn't until Messi emerged in 08/09 that we started questioning that thought. Ronaldo came before Messi as far back as 2004. So if Messi made us bring back the conversation of who the greatest is, then that says it all. Ronaldo is an obvious great player who scored a lot of goals and was so dangerous but so was Eusebio and Stefano. But when you watch a game it is the way a player does it that makes a player standout. This is the reason why TH14 will be the greatest PL player not because he has more goals(which is important) but because of the ELEGANCE when he scored goals. Its the way its done not the numbers.
