Hi Karen. Guthrie Ghani have recently released a video explaining about the Lutterloh pattern system. Thought I'd mention it if you want to know more about it. Great Stella Hoodie, looks great on you, I love it, also love the New Look dress, I haven't seen that before, I'm going to look out for it, looks lovely. Last thing, if you fancy doing gathering again check out Frugalissima's video on gathering with elastic, it works really well, you always get even gathering. 😀

Thank you Jill I am definitely going to give that a go (Frugilissima's video) there has to be an easier way with less threads - what a mess I got myself into. Hi Karen , I love your channel, you are so relatable and have such a down to earth personality. Just fab. Anyway, this is the second time I’ve commented on this video but it seems to have been deleted so I’ll try again. I have the Lutterloh system, it’s great, although it’s approximately £140 for 280 patterns in the initial binder but you don’t get individual instructions with each pattern on how to construct - you just use your own experience on how to put the garments together. There are extra supplements that come out every 3months with another 40 patterns for about £25 but you’ll need the special tape measure from the system to use the supplements. Guthrie and Ghani posted a video 21st February showing Ralph Lutterloh demonstrating it. I hope this helps and my comment stays on this time. I look forward to your next video and I hope your next chemo doesn’t make you feel too poorly. Take care. Xx
@karensewsslowly7 ай бұрын
Your comment did stay on this time Melanie and thank you for it. I think I may need a few more years experience before I try anything without instructions - I can't imagine the mess I would get into - I manage that when I have really good instructions! 🤣🥰xx

The Lutterloh system is almost like a design you own pattern approach, using blocks. I think it would require quite a lot of pattern hacking experience to get the most from it. I'm a pretty experienced sewer but would find it far too complicated to use. I'd much rather just grade between sizes of an existing pattern to get the fit. It's great if you want to get more involved in developing your own designs. Love the hoodie BTW.

Looking fab in your hoodie today! Quick mention that the Lutterloh system is something you need to work on with your own measurements and costs about £140. Watch the Gutherie & Ghana episode which is very recent. I love that you have been busy and got good results apart from Indigo! Boiled wool won’t really drape so much for your waterfall so to me an edge to edge would be better and no hemming required anyway! Bobbins are a pain and I have many different machines and all different bobbins 😂 I would buy bobbins from machine shop where I bought it. Happy sewing xx
@karensewsslowly7 ай бұрын
Thank you Alison - yes I wondred about the drape of the boiled wool - it may stick out a bit I think. Vicki - the lady who gifted me the fabric has send me a butterick pattern with a waterfall Gilet but I spotted another jackety-thing in the back ground which I am fancying now but I will try the pattern review site you mention I know @Vivmomsews mentions this quite a bit. I don't think the Lutterloh system will be for me as my measurements change like the weather - woman of a certain age and all that... 😂🥰xx

Hi Karen, I’ve made the jacket, didn’t have any problems with it. It’s quite cropped which was fine for what I wore it with and the sleeves are 3/4 length.
