I made a Donny Shirt out of a DAshwood cotton and love it, It is the perfect weight I was a little hesitant at first too but it turned out to be just what I wanted. Sometimes we need to finish the WIPS before sewing the next thing 😇

Love the skirt. We don't have school uniforms in Canada, so, to me, it doesn't look like a school uniform skirt😊. Just a really cute skirt!

Your blue plaid skirt is fab and the pattern matching is superb plus your zip looks good too.Thank you for admitting you were nervous as it helps other sewers to accept their worries too.I find hand basting the zip before machine stitching helps me to feel more confident and have a better result.I am glad you don't put pressure on yourself to vlog each week.Vlogging should be fun for you and therefore fun for us . I am looking forward to your next makes.

Yoganuary! Nice 😊 and losing an inch, painlessly, off your waist is so good for your health, Tamlyn. I'm determined to conquer the Donny shirt this spring. I've made two and both were poor fabric choices, not enough drape. There must be something I can use in my stash 🤔 I like that little Bernadette skirt too. Mine will be a tad longer than yours though! 😂 Better get the pattern...

My year started well in terms of sewing. ordered two fabrics from Liberty sale - one tana lawn and the other satin silk. I am in the final stages of completing the second dress, both are versions of a vampire wife's dress with the changes I've made to suit my figure better. Good luck with your plans.

The tote looks great. I guess it's petite compared to the Pepin Tote, which I carry half my worldly possessions in every day. 😂 I think your waistcoat and skirt combo sound great also.

Sometimes you have to just take a break. Taking care of yourself is very important. I follow Adriene too. Yoga is a great start 😊. I hope Taylor is sleeping better. Children go through these phases. Hi, great to hear of your health progress. Such a good feeling when you can see the difference. Love the Andi jacket in the soft shell. Never heard of that fabric so will check out the video. I’d love to lose an inch off my waist! Like you said though it isn’t always the place you want it to go. For me it always comes off my hips and legs instead which I don’t necessarily want to happen.. Guess we’re just built to be a certain shape. Lovely plans and fabrics. Your bag looks brilliant and so professional 😊

The Sistas will be my next vlog to watch this morning. I love the skirt and the way you styled it. If I was younger and had somewhere to wear it, I would be copying the look. I really want to make that Itch To Stitch soft shell jacket, but I'm only using fabric from my stash in 2024. Good for you to start yoga. I retire in 4 1/2 days. I plan to either walk or use my exercise bike before breakfast, then come home and exercise. My little town has so many long steep hills, I can walk at least 10 hills as part of my hour long route. All of your fabric is so lovely and vibrant, great choices.

Your tote looks fantastic. I will be watching out for the new kits drop. I am a sucker for a bag pattern. I have purchased softshell to make an Andes jacket and it will be happening very soon. I recommend hand basting the zip before sewing, too, Tamlyn. That, and using a proper invisible zipper foot means I actually have invisible zips these days! It's a miracle!! 😊 Love all your makes.. that bag is gorgeous 😍

During the holidays (which in the US are really from early October - making Halloween costumes and decorating - until the week after New Year's Day) I really let my sewing space get cluttered, disorganized and messy, not least because I travelled to London for two weeks in December and also got C*v*d for the first time! So this first month of the year has just been me re-organizing and cleaning and planning in my head. I've done no sewing except to hem a pair of pants! So bummed....

Great vlog and I've been doing the 30day yoga with Adrienne too - I managed to do 3 months last year but then life got in the way and I didn't get back to it so was really determined to start again this year and hope to keep it going this time so good luck to you too and yes, I think it does make a difference. I don't think I've lost any inches but I haven't checked so well done to you x. I love the bag you've made and I think I might be tempted to have a look at the bag bundles on Saturday as having everything already in a pack is a lot easier than trying to put all the bits together for me. Not a good start, leftover fatigue after COVID, snow, and a 90 day notice to vacate the house I live in. I had originally planned sewing projects, jewelry making, and some painting. So far only made a necklace, a bracelet, and several pairs of earrings.... A work in progress.

I'm too lazy to hand-baste anything so when I put invisible zips in, I stitch twice - the first run is nice and close but holds it exactly where I need it and the second run is uncomfortably close and I make lots of awkward noises while trying to avoid hitting it with the needle :)

I do yoga with Adriene, have done for years and I find it soooooo beneficial in all the ways you mentioned, after the 30 days, it’s so easy to stop, but try not to… I’d recommend to anyone!

Yeah I definitely want to carry on but think I’ll reduce the number of days a week I do it. Just finding it tricky to fit in some days. I’m thinking 4 times a week would be good. How often do you practise? X

@@SewnontheTyneI always aim to do every day, first thing in the morning but it doesn’t always work out, sometimes I’ll do two in a day to catch up, since I do think the 30-day injects a kind of motivation, or challenge for me [I can be a bit lackadaisical]. It really does improve strength, posture and flexibility and mostly I enjoy it!
