Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing another lovely vlog, I did quilting for a couple of years, My Mam and I went to a quilting class, it was lovely to share that time with her, she has sadly passed away but I have some great memories of us sewing our quilts together in class. ❤ I didn’t realise how precise you have to be when quilting, my quarter inch foot was a godsend. I hope you enjoy it.

What a lovely memory to have shared together! I have bought a 1/4 inch foot after you all advised it! I have only just started a little bit of it but so far so good! Xx

First off, I enjoy your videos so much. You are very inspiring and I love your positive attitude. Second off, I have been quilting for many years. I would agree with Angela in her comment below about rotary cutter, ruler and self healing mat. I would suggest buying the best you can afford especially with the ruler. QS (Quilters Select) is a wonderful brand because of the coating on the back of the ruler. It prevents slippage while cutting the fabric. Another great brand is Creative Grids. They have little rough texture pads on the back of their rulers to prevent slippage. I wish you the best with your new endeavor.

I think your house will be your priority over your sewing for a while Sarah. It sounds like you have lovely plans too. Good luck, and I hope you manage to move back in soon. 😊

My tip…… ”don’t forget to look up!!”…. in other words, Shelving around the room near the ceiling is often under utilized. Corbels can give the shelving a beautiful look and unique baskets can “top it off”……also flea market finds (containers) can add a unique flair “up there” also. A library ladder or “grabber thingy” makes using this storage method much easier.

Looking forward to seeing what quilt pattern you are doing. I enjoy garment sewing but with my weight fluctuating, I have slowed down on my clothes as I have many. I have been sewing for others and dipped into making a few bags and dog coats. I have recently found Lori Holt and started to make an apple quilt. I am really enjoying the process and you can just pick it up and anytime between projects. The hard thing is choosing the fabric as I like things to match 😊. I just need to let go and use my scraps.

I found picking the fabric really tough too - I am sort of just praying that it all comes together nicely 🙏🏻 I quite enjoyed laying the fat quarters out and matching then up though!

I am a quilter, the best advice I can give you is cut with a rotary cutter, quilting ruler and self healing mat and you’ll need to be precise with your 1/4 seam allowance, you’ll have such fun though

Oh what a beautiful upbeat vlog. My advice is to try and alter. As you’ll know I had my space set up one way but after a few years I moved everything round, so don’t think it needs to be perfect straightaway, live with the room and move things around as you feel you want to. You need to use the room and change as needed xxx

Very keen to see what happens with the quilt blocks. I’m a bit the same - more a dressmaker but often think maybe I should do something like that as a palate cleanser and because … do I really need another top/dress/skirt …?

Quilting - you must be accurate with 1/4inch seams so get a special presser foot if you haven't already got one. If you are not accurate then pieces won't fit together properly and you'll be SO frustrated. Use a small stitch length but not so small that you can't unpick easily!
