It has been a while since I posted a video, hasn't it? Well, it's time for #fridaysews from Deb's Sewing Nook. Thank you to everyone who has been in contact with me through emails and texts. Hi Lisa! I've been keeping busy with some sewing projects even though I haven't filmed anything for a while. I've also knitted about 75 chemo hats for my church group ever since I started with them a few months ago. Hope you've been doing okay. School is nearing the end, right? Take care now!

Hi Izzy! Thank you, YES, the med has been doing a great job and I am able to be more active. I don't like taking meds but this stuff works in killing the aches and pains and I can move. It has been wonderful. Look out! LOLOLOL...I even started to look at tours of Great Britain! Just thinking and dreaming a bit!! :) Have a good one!

The med worked fast and SO GOOD!! I feel so much better; can't believe just how quickly it worked to relieve the pain I was having but it did such a good job.

Actually, I was celebrating a few days ahead and a few days after my actual birthday. Shoot, I've been celebrating in some way all week!! Hey Deb! It's been pretty crazy here with no extra time. Between the kids, my mom, the bees, work and my wife I hardly get sleep. Mitchell will be 2 on April 27th. Time flies! William is too funny!! Thanks!

I love your dress and the fabric! I used to make so many of my clothes but then stopped for a bit. I bought an easy shirt pattern and some lovely fabric but now I'm scared to cut it... 😆 🤣 Love your Brother machine!! I'm so glad The Hapi Camper sent me your way ❤😊

Hi there and thank you for coming my way! You know what? If you have some muslin fabric or an old sheet or something like that, use that first to try your shirt pattern on. After you have the shirt made the way you like it then cut the pattern out of the nicer fabric. If you have sewn clothing in the past, I have a feeling you will have no problem at all. Go for it!

Deb, Until 2022 I had never heard of polymyalgia rheumatica. That was when I was told I also had it. I ended up also having back surgery and with the medication they gave me - no more pain. I also have a birthday coming up soon and its a big one. I can't believe I will be 80- this year. So good to see you again. Take care of yourself - and William. ❤🙏❤

Oh my goodness it was so nice seeing you and I’m glad the medication is helping. I have to say I really did like the Easter dress the purple one I thought that was really pretty but I know you will finish the one you were starting and I thought the pattern was really nice. I know with william said it was busy. But I did like the fabric and I cannot believe the baby puppy is going to be a year old oh my goodness where the heck did a year ago or at least 10 months. Hi Dee! Hi Doug!! It has been hard for me to believe just how fast the medication worked on my aches & pains but it really did! It is definitely helping to make it possible for me to be more mobile these days. Whew! I don't get dressed up very often at all anymore but fortunately I did have a few nice dresses in the closet that could be used for Easter Sunday church services. Oh, I won't let that Soho (or is it Boho?) dress go to waste. It's really comfy! Matter of fact, I hope to get back in my sewing nook tomorrow and just hem away. I really do have several pieces to get hemmed up. Bella is really maturing. Thank goodness! As I type, she is laying in my chair right beside me with her head on my thigh. She's Mama's Baby Girl most of the time but she's also Daddy's Girl when she wants to be or has to be because I'm away from home. We cannot imagine how quiet and empty our household would feel like without a dog in the house. We are so fortunate and blessed to have Bella. Weeeelllll, I'm sure you've heard the latest news? Iran thinks they can fire so many missiles, etc on Israel and then go public and say ...that's all we're going to do in retaliation for an attack in Damascus a month or so ago. Nothing more. I expect Israel to definitely retaliate. How can they not?

Hi Deb, just seeing this now! You look lovely in the pink top you made. You are so busy with your sewing, it really does take time, I get lost in a project and look at the clock and can't believe the hours that have passed. Ha. Loved your violet Easter dress, and the Easter dress you made, too! I'm with you with hemming! I'm 5' 1", even the petite size pants, I still have to hem - my inseam is 27". Take care, enjoy your hot summer coming up - we lived in Clearwater, FL for years, so I know all about your heat and humidity! 🤣

Time flies when I get working away in my sewing nook, that's for sure! But sometimes it seems like I just get started on a sewing project and I have to tear away to take care of something else going on in the house. That's just the way it is around here! But I have been working hard lately to clear up my unfinished sewing projects and I really have put a nice dent in the pile. I'm pleased with getting so much done, too, because I've added so many new things to my wardrobe. It feels good! Take care now!!

I remember when you got her. I liked both dresses for Easter. I have never had any problems sewing with knits and i'm glad I have not. I finally put my laundry day tee pattern together. I have made 3 so far, and I have plans to make 2 more.

Hi Zelda! I've heard that the Laundry Day Tee is fairly easy; getting a decent fit is what I find challenging. I'll be working on that a little bit this week-end and finish up in class. Oh, I really enjoyed meeting up with Carole, Grace, and their husbands. It was a lot of fun! I know that it is inevitable for a few JoAnn stores to close but I sure hope the one I like to shop at will not be one of them. I guess we'll find out what's what in the very near future... I like your dress, Deb. The colors and pattern are very classy (I also understand wanting to please your husband and there is nothing wrong with that...I bet it grows on William as you wear it around the house). I have been waiting to see your tee shirt and it looks great! Deb, my friend gave me a 1970's Kenmore (Sears) sewing machine in perfect working order. The thing weighs a million pounds, lol...but now I can sew and I am so happy you are doing Friday sews again, I need to inspiration. The fabric for the laundry day tee is very pretty, can't wait to see it and your jacket...you could put one little eye hook on the inside of the jacket just incase you need it closed. You are one busy lady, sorry I wrote a novel...it's just good to see you. I hope your Birthday brings you peace and comfort, and JOY! Have a wonderful Sunday, God bless you❤🙌

I so appreciate your kind words! I had a Kenmore sewing machine back in the early 70's. It was one of the first machines to come out with the free arm and it had drop-in cams for decorative stitches. That machine lasted for decades until it was severely damaged in a flood! Loved that machine! Happy Sewing to you!!

Yay I was so happy when your video popped up ❤. It was so great to meet with you again recently. How crazy that we have now met 3 times and we live so far from each other. You have been very busy in your nook! I hate hemming and this basically because at that point in my head the project is finished plus I can't ever decide how long I want anything to be 😂. Particularly with trousers as normally the patterns are so long on me I don't know how long they are meant to be. I loved Bahama Breeze and I couldn't stop thinking of my dish the rest of the holiday 🥰. So glad you have discovered what may be causing your symptoms, fingers crossed you will continue to improve. ❤. Thanks for this video, you've been missed 😘

I have a feeling I will be spending most of the day tomorrow working away at getting a load of hemming work done. I didn't mention but I recently figured out (FINALLY!) how to do the blind hem stitch on my machine so, hopefully, that will make the work go quickly. I have been thoroughly amazed at how quickly the med I was given has worked. I don't like taking meds and I hope I don't have to continue forever on this one but if it helps, I will take it. I was in a lot of pain and not very active at all for months. Constant pain just wears a person down but that's over for me; I feel back in total control now.

I don't like taking medication and I'm hoping I won't need to be on this one forever BUT it sure has made a big difference in how I feel. I have been painfree now since I started taking this new med. And I've been able to do so much that I haven't been able to do for months & months. I sure would hate to see my main JoAnn's close down. It feels so strange in the store nowadays when I go shopping there and see so many empty shelves. I was told that they'll be closing the smaller stores around the country but the larger stores, like the one I shop at, will be okay. Sure hope so! Are you guys back in New York these days?

I know exactly what you mean about having a problem finishing a project. My sewing projects tend to pile up every now & then but I have been working over the past few weeks at clearing up my unfinished projects and I'm feeling so much better now. It's like a big relief! Take care now!!

Wear your Easter dress to the sewing studio. 😊 You are super busy! I don’t like hemming and I was spoiled when I was young, because my mom would hem for me. She was a hand quilter and faster at any hand stitching than I was. I would move on to my next project, while she finished the last one. It was a good deal for me! Have a good week! -Deborah

Glad to hear that I am not the only one who doesn't like to hem! I have usually done my hemming while sitting and watching TV but I recently learned how to use the blind hem stitch on my machine. Hopefully, that will get things going much quicker. Have a great week!
