Hi Ruan, we must have brought our Lyra and material on release day at the same time from PIMI, delivery was the next day too!. The only difference is that yours is complete ( and looking fabulous btw!) and mine, well umm, I've pre-washed the material and get the courage to cut into that gorgeous fabric...🙄🤣 Your mum looked wonderful if that were my mum she would have told anyone who would listen that her daughter made it.🙌🏾🧡

I’m a year late watching this but it popped up! It’s lovely that you made your mum’s outfit. I’ve always made for others and it’s so satisfying, when they like it. I like to see it tried on so that I can assess the fit. I think your Lyra dress is lovely. It hadn’t appealed to me before but now I’m going to take a look.

That print is so fun! I think that because the Lyra fits so well in the shoulders and collar it offsets the ease in the waist, if you know what I mean. You look absolutely adorable in it without a waist tie. Even better than the model! I don't know how much negative ease is in the other dress pattern but you can mark the pattern piece on the fabric and stretch it across your bust before cutting out to see if it works or not. Which you probably already thought of lol. Look at me advising an experienced sewist🤣
@theyorkshiresewgirl3 жыл бұрын
Natalie you’re a star. I 100% know about what you mean reference the shoulders/bodice fitting. Totally agree. And thank you for the advice on marking the pattern piece. I hadn’t thought of that 🤪🤪🤪

I love the concept of friday sews! Lots of chitchat and different crafts mixed in with dressmaking, perfect! It seems as if everyone is more relaxed. And you are a natural in front of the camera, you always make me smile 😊 The weather here in the Stockholm area of Sweden is also ”misbehaving”, it’s up and down, cold and warm, sunny and rainy, one never knows what to expect. Had my hopes up for a visit to a gorgeous garden center today, where you can sit outside for a coffee as well, but no.... it’s gonna rain AND thunder 🙄 Take care and good luck with your next project! ❤️

I really resonate with this. I am not a frills girl, I made the westcliffe dress but was making the knee length version and my family liked it. I didn’t have enough to make a long tier on it and I didn’t think it was me. I had, however a piece of fabric left about enough to do a frill of 9 inches. I was tempted to try it so I DID IT, it made it midi length and I actually love it. Love your dress

Bravo on all your makes, especially the wedding outfit for your mom!!! Your mom looks so happy and beautiful!! Re:the fabric across your bust…have you considered measuring the front bodice pattern piece then holding that width of fabric across “the girls” to your sides and see how the fabric looks? It’s won’t be exact, but it may give you some idea as to how the bodice will look once it’s sewn up. Your videos always make me smile, so don’t be too critical. Just be your wonderful self!!
