Your S7948 blue tiered dress is so pretty!!!! Can't imagine what it would look like if you had made the tiers with all the fabric the pattern called for. Brilliant idea of adding some elastic to the back! Yes, gathering a long piece of material is an incredible pain, trying to get the gathers just so and then carefully and slowly sewing them in place. However, the end result is so worth it. Made many Project Dress A Girl dresses with hem ruffles that really made the dresses so much sweeter. Like the happy smile on your face while twirling your blue dress, I kept imagining the happy smiles on the little girls' faces wearing their pretty dresses and that made the gathering process so much more bearable. Sorry to hear your husband is feeling poorly. Let him know we hope he makes a very quick recovery. Your littlest bride's maid dress: When you mentioned the word "chiffon" and Jen's name in the same sentence, I had to laugh! Reminded me of her saying that "Chiffon is from the devil!" and my own experience sewing with it to make my daughter's angel costume for Halloween way back when. I had never worked with it before and not worked with it since! Beautiful fabric, but it just doesn't like to cooperate during the cutting process. I think battery-powered scissors would be the best way to cut that stuff out as accurately as possible. Looking forward to seeing your "new and improved" sewing room at some point. I keep dreaming of mine. Some day in the future, I plan to do a sewing room tour. Will need some equipment for that, which has already factored into my budget. Hugs to you! 🥰

Oh Dori, your comment brought a tear to my eye thinking about the joy on those girls faces when they would have received the dresses, what a wonderful thing we all did last year. I promise never to moan about gathering ever again! I had forgotten that Jen hates chiffon😲 I have made a little sort of cardigan once from it for a wedding but don't remember too much of a problem. The quality of this one was dreadful though so I hope the proper fabric is better. Now battery powered scissors, why have I never heard of those?! I need to see what those are! I really love my tiered dress but Chris says I should be on Little House on the Prairie 🤣. Actually that and The Waltons are my favourite programmes, sad aren't I? I have made those drawers up this afternoon and my patterns fit in them wonderfully, can't wait to show you next week. Hope you get yours sorted soon. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend 😊☀️

I had my last sewing class (of this month anyway) last Thursday. I am a slow sewist, I know, but I'm okay with what I got done. I didn't quite finish my first summer housedress but I finally learned how to finish off the shoulder straps properly. The instructor showed me how to do it at the end of the last class. I hope to work on my housedresses over the week-end since it's a holiday week-end over here -- the 4th of July. We have no special plans for the holiday so I'm hoping to spend some time in my sewing nook. And it has been so hot lately that I would like to spend some time in the pool. My 2nd eye surgery takes place next Wednesday so I need to mentally prepare for that but there's not much prep in that. I already believe I am so ready to have this surgery behind me. Enjoy your week-end!!

Hello there, thank you so much for your kind comments. Gathering around the waist is a no for me as well as it makes me look even shorter than I am, but this style seemed to work as it stands away from the waist. Hi Carole - it's always fun hearing what you've been up to! I'm cutting out another white tee shirt myself this very moment!! I had to take a breather earlier this morning when things went a little bit sideways. The new white tee shirt is a Stellan Tee (free) to replace the first one, which is plum worn out. The old one will be a sleep shirt for some new French terry short pj pants. Which I cut out after a (Love Notions Compose) robe because "look at the fabric I have left!" After cutting out the shorts pieces, I found the sleeve and pocket pattern pieces which I'd forgotten to cut with the rest of the robe pieces. 😑😑 I was able to find the yard extra, though, to finish it up. Big Sigh. May your sewing be uneventful haha!!

I honestly think your lemon "Think Pink" fabric was the best use I have seen with that fabric. Ha ha, don't worry I had help in the end to move the boxes and I have finished making the drawers this afternoon. I am very pleased 👏🏼. I never lift anything heavy don't worry, too much history with bad elbows 😆Have a good weekend 😊☀️

What beach is that? Does your dog like to swim with you all?

Aw that is the lovely Southbourne Beach in Dorset. We have a lovely long sandy beach near us that runs from Sandbanks to Hengistbury head 10miles, the sand is wonderful. Mickey does love the beach but we don't often take him down now as he gets too cold. He goes crazy digging multiple holes in the sand though, even at his age! Sadly we have never swam in the sea with him, dogs are banned from most beaches near us from May to September. Thanks for watching 😊☀️
