Thank you, Fin! Super tutorial. So pretty! Has there ever been a more cheerful print than this Aussie Animal print? I love it. The banded bottoms are brilliant. (Dress + Jacket = Perfect!) :)

Thank you! Yes, that print definitely has a lot of character. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it's grown on me. I absolutely love all the colors in it! 👗🌸🥰🌼🐹

You are so welcome! Have fun making this dress! You use slightly more fabric with a lined bodice (instead of facing) but I think it looks nicer and is easier to construct. Also, I changed the skirt. Again, I just used a bit more fabric so that it would look more vintage but it's still a really lovely pattern.

I purchased that pattern because it was a canvas, but was lacking inspiration. Now that i see yours, it's like a world of opportunities opened up. Thank you!

The jacket tops off this dress, my pattern is on the way, can't wait to make! Side note: this is one of the patterns Liberty used in their Liberty range

It is a great dress pattern. The neckline might be a little tight. Many people alter it a little. It makes a lovely dress. 🥰👗🌸

@@PerfectJacket Thank you for this tip, I find I need to edit the necklines on many patterns but I guess that's the benefit of sewing your own clothes right, customising to fit.

i wanna make one like a pinafore to wear in winter and cold temperatures, too! hope itll work out. i´ll guess i do only one tier

Go for it! I wear these dresses over a long t-shirt and yoga pants. It's the best dress. I made the 1 tier dress first and then made a bunch more in different lengths. It's such a wearable pattern. 👗🌸

Thank you, great video! The pink dress is so cute. What sleeves did you use?
@PerfectJacket Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used the pattern piece provided in M7948 but I had a little extra fabric so I added it to the middle of each sleeve. Fold the sleeve in half and cut the 3 sides normally but on the fold add a few inches of fabric past where the fold of the pattern ends, then when you're making it pleat the excess down and it creates the puff. Or N6698 also has a super cute puff sleeve you could use. 🌸👗

Thanks Fin for the terrific demo. Just a few (related) questions...when you reduce the shoulder (around 12.30), why do continue taking away fabric right to the underarm? Doesn't this increase the armhole and make it many sizes bigger? Why not just blend into existing armhole seam line? Thanks again, Jen

It's great when a beginner sewing finally feels they have the confidence to make alterations but a lot of sewers aren't there yet. They want to see two options so they can choose between them. I'm happy to make, and wear, those samples. Everyone should be able to make a garment for themselves. Gatekeeping is small minded and mean spirited.

Many apologies. No offence intended. I was just genuinely interested in the process. I think the finished shirt & skirt look wonderful. @@PerfectJacket

Correction: I meant dress! I've just been watching the McCalls M8194 demo which is shirt & skirt (and looks great too).

sashes.. how are you making them..
@PerfectJacket8 ай бұрын
I tie a ribbon around my waist and tie a bow, the sash has to be at least that long. Cut it twice as thick, plus seam allowances, fold in half (right sides together) sew one bottom and the long side. Turn out. Press and tuck seams of the other end it. Top stitch around all four sides. You can also use a different fabric on each side. 🥰🎨🌸
