The more I spend time in the outdoors, the more I know I would not miss all the stuff we accumulate in life. When you see that you can survive in a basic shelter with minimal clothing and basic food it makes everything else seem like waste. Of course, a home with AC and electronics and showers and all the conveniences are wonderful and I would not want to completely loss any of them, but time away from them all is also something I would never want to lose. In regards to pictures, well they mean a lot in the long run.. .you don't realize it until you go back and look at old family photos of yourself, friends, parents, siblings, grandparents, and so on. It's history along with memories. Without time, we have to only rely on stories alone, which have to be passed down as well. Anyhow, your the bomb! Later!

Thanks for the gear run down. Heading out for my first motorcycle-camp and found this video helpful. Glad I stumbled across your channel a while ago. Cheers! Keep them coming. And as for an answer to your question: I’m not sure there’s anything I would miss. It’s all just stuff and can be replaced. My computer hard drive is in fireproof containment. I think I’d miss my bikes, yes they too can be replaced but there’s an emotional bond which each bike that couldn’t be replaced. Getting a little lost keeps things interesting👍

I've thought about your question many times... I've lived in the land of hurricanes, tornado alley, and just recently very close to the Cali wildfires. What's important? My family being safe and sound. That's it. But truthfully, I have memories and adventures tied to many things. There almost like artifacts of my existence. Coffee cups, pint glasses, and especially my tools. The things are replaceable or just plain unnecessary, but the memories that come rushing back when I use these things...it's almost as if the memory is gone until I use the thing. TVs, electronics, furniture...no attachment...they can go up in flames.

I love your videos man and your attitude. I’ve dreamed of owning an XR for years and years and never brought myself to really investing in the bike and learning all of the extra stuff (camping etc) for the real dual sport experience. I’ve been watching your channel for a few months and started a new savings goal (after many talks with my wife) to get myself a bike hopefully by next summer. Keep the content coming man. Thanks for inspiring people.

Interesting question, If I lost everything today and got reimbursed what would I replace? That is the question. More then likely less then 25%. I'm not even sure if I would replace my house or just go nomad? I would have to replace my two wheels transportation (bicycle and motorcycle) and a vehicle to haul them with. Other then that??????

I buy storage lockers and have a lot of stuff in my house . Of course most of it is for Ebay or special flea markets but what a insane collection of items . Just took over 50 hours to get the office straightened out enough to have a 6'x8' center area free of the mountain that was there . Now for the rest of the place . Maybe finish in a year . I would like to ride my 2019 DR650 legally so it's get license time . My thing is that what do I do about my dog . It will devastate her if I ride away , especially for any length of time . I would love to take her but it just isn't feasible . Only way would be to pack the bike in my truck go somewhere with easy trails and put her in a cargo trailer I saw that is built for offroad . She could run some and then go in the crate . There's a guy up north in B.C. I think and he brings his smaller terrier with him in a milk crate or he lets him run around . Totally cool adventure . My dog is 45 pounds , his is maybe 20 . Then there's animals that might want doggie for dinner and if something happened I would go insane and get divorced . Anyway nice setup , you have a new sub right here . Stay safe out there .

have you read the story about the two people attacked by a machete while camping on the Appalachian Trail one of them did not survive the other one was smart enough to play dead and get away and yes they caught the guy eventually so this brings me to question the borderline unnecessary tool. I believe that a pistol or revolver is a necessary tool that isn’t used very much if at all but it is nice to have when you do need to use it. I love your videos and plan on doing exactly what you do on my Honda XR 650 L. And I hope I never have to use my borderline unnecessary tool LOL.

Concerning the tent’s footprint: If it never rains where you are, then this comment can be ignored. The tent’s floor is waterproof. But, it won’t be for long. The footprint is used to protect the fragile floor from pokey things on the ground. It is very important in the weather where I’m from.
@FridaysTheBomb5 жыл бұрын
I've actually never used it under the tent, and the floor has yet to rip. Sort of a testament to the quality of Marmots materials I think. I almost always camp on rocky terrain on ground I cleared myself.

"For when you hear a noise... and wanna go look for it.." Ahh. You're one of _those_ guys. I'm more than happy to camp with you *any* time. I'll be long gone, drinking hot cocoa with emergency services while I describe the desert hill mutant that hung you from a meat hook after you followed a sound into the dark desert alone, while I made sure my gun was loaded and chambered, my phone charged and within service range, and immediately begun my hasty retreat towards civilization, leaving you to your inevitable fate as a hill mutants future dingleberry. Have I probably fled from many a raccoon, opened fire on a possum or two, and abandoned my girlfriend in the woods while she was peeing because I heard a particularly hefty lizard... yes. Probably and definitely yes. Have I ever been murdered and/or devoured by hillbillies, mutants, or supernaturally enhanced psychopaths of the hockey loving, asylum escapee, or unsettling plaything variety? Not even once, and I don't plan to start anytime soon. Now, if you'll excuse me; there is a particularly suspicious looking old woman outside my house and I don't like the look of her... I need to go count my ammo and make sure my panic room is properly stocked for a potential gypsy curse, or youth sucking witch attack. Good day sir.
