Hello All, Thank you this information was very helpful. My experience...a slightly noisy refrigeraor that became obnoxiously noisey. The main noise was coming from the freezer area. It appeared to be the evaporator fan...good luck trying to get at it. Finally the simple fix (tried after listening to this video)and I believe to be the problem = ice/frost build up hitting the evaporator fan...(1) remove the ice from the ice maker,; (2) unplugg the refrigerator for 24 hrs (obviously if you can move your food to another refigerator); (3) put down a couple of towels in case of overflow of the drip pan from melted ice; (4) next day check the drip pan, access this from the panel at the bottom of the back of the refrigerator; (5) drain the drip pan, may have to use a rag and squeeze into a bucket method; (6) plug refrigerator back in and give it 24 hours to come to temperature (you may have to reset the refrig/freezer temps); (7) if all works, as mine did, reload your food and enjoy a silent refrigerator. Now, I understand this may not be everyone's refrigerator issue, but it worked for me without taking apart thr whole interior of the refrigerator. Good luck!

My fridge started making this noise about 2 weeks ago. Found this video and I was not in the mood to get all the food out as we had just bought groceries. What I ended up doing was setting the temp up to 42 degrees instead of the 37 we had it on. And within 6-8 hours the noise went away. I left the temperature setting at 42 for about 36hrs, and then lowered it back to 37 and has been running fine with no noise.(been about a week since I did it and no noise) I thought I would share as it worked for me.

Do thé noise is back since you fix it . Thanks
@danielguerra44473 жыл бұрын
@@dominic-xu9ej actually I found the problem causing this noise with my fridge. As we know the noise was coming from ice building up and the fan started scraping the ice. Higher temperature worked for a week or 2 and it came back. Then I changed the heater element and temperature sensor. Few weeks later happened again, still making the same noise and once again found ice buildup on fan. Removed panel and defrosted ice again. Few weeks it started making noise again. I had read that a big chase for ice buildup is dirty vents or blocked vents. I had warned my wife not to place anything near the vents which are on both sides of my fridge. I looked down and both vents were being covered by boxes my wife had placed on each side of the fridge. So I moved the boxes and raised the temperature a few degrees so fan would stop and not make noise. The next day I lowered the temperature back to my normal 39 degrees for fridge and the noise was gone. Unblocking the vents allowed the ice to melt and it has been working perfect for 2 months now. Coldest my fridge has ever been. So my issue was we kept placing things to close to the vents.

Use hot water and turkey baster and spray it over the ice. Its much quicker than the blow dryer. And to avoid future ice build up increase both the freezer and fridge temperature to a couple of degrees warmer.

@@normadoes -Perhaps in your case you won't need it, but in my case I was doing exactly what you did, removing the back panel and melting down the ice with a blow dryer, but I was doing it about every 2-3 months and I finally got tired of repeating the same process over-and-over again. I don't know where I got the info, but I increased the freezer temperature from -O-to 3 degrees and the fridge from 36 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. So far its been 6 months and no problem. The turkey baster technique has its pros and cons. Although its faster because I use hot boiling water, there is a risk of getting scorched. It can also get a bit messy with all extra ice water falling on the bottom and the clean up can get complicated.

video is nice. After looking at many of these videos from Various Manufacturers this problem is really common. For cost of these refrigerators the design is flawed. We should not put up with. From my point if view a common comment from suppliers is putting too much items in the refrigerator and or Freezer drawer. I found that all appliance salesperson mention it but most of the videos seem to show lightly filled refrigerators. If a person does a lot of cooking the compartment can easily over filled. This in turn can affect the circulation and in turn maybe be also causing the ice buildup behind the panels.
@terrysorensen70063 жыл бұрын
Nice video. I have the same model. However it will just freeze up again. The fix is to install foam insulation tape on the Freon tubes that enter on the top rt. of the compartment. Tape is available at HD. Frost King pipe wrap insulation tape. 100174724 or FV15H. Carefully wrap the tubes with the tape and they will not condense water on them anymore.

This is great but there is one warning people should get before they take off that panel. Samsung used a foam seal (instead of a silicone or rubber seal that would have cost an extra couple of bucks) that seal WILL crack when you take off the panel no matter how gentle you are. Once that seal cracks your going to be dealing with this far more often. If you can fix this without taking off the pannel just by running multiple defrosts do it that way.

Thank u Norma. Unfortunately this prob happened twice in 4 weeks. It usually happens once every summer. I thought maybe bec of the heat in summer and we open the refrigerator too much and the temp diff creates condensation that freezes behind the panel. It’s so frustrating that it happened twice in 4 weeks. I have a feeling it’s going to conk out.

Sorry to hear that! It’s very frustrating. I changed then temp to 37 try doing so see if maybe that’ll help in any way, I haven’t had the problem since. I kicked my Samsung to the garage lol I now have an LG and loving it! Good luck to you!

Much of what you have is correct, but there's something really wrong with your defrost sensor, it's not connected, it's just laying down on the coil, it should be mounted to the right pipe up above and insulated and the pipes entering insulated, if you look at your video at 5:38 as you remove the cover the ice buildup is up top around those pipes, those pipes carry refrigerant that has to be 20F lower at least than the temp you want to box to be, so if you want your box to be 34, the refrigerant has to get down to 14F, which is well below freezing, the pipes are insulated as they come up from below but as they enter the box they are exposed, factory too cheap to add the insulation, I've been in HVACR for over 50years, but the companies I worked for rarely did residential refrigeration, this just happened to mine with the evap fan, but we have had issues with the icemaker, it's a poor design, air can creep up the shutter door and the added humidity freezes up the icemaker. I thought that the evap sensor was installed wrong too, but the factory sent out a bulletin about this is issue, link below, that shows the proper install is where it was, I still question this. These units have a lot of design issues and there's a class action lawsuit, the sad fact is what you and I and others have done may or may not fix this because there are several possible causes, isn't that awesome?, you'll see in the bulletin. The other thing I did was insulate the lines coming in to the coil, generally in refrigeration systems these lines are insulated completely from the coil out, they will get cold and humidity in the air will freeze to them and then the ice will grow, how fast depends on how much humidity is getting into the fridge, also sealing as you showed is important. I also insulated the sensor especially at the back where it was touching the body of the fridge, a sensor must only sense the pipe and therefore the temperature of the refrigerant, if it is exposed to air or another object it's senses the wrong temp, that yellow sensor is the defrost sensor, it could very well be that these sensors aren't sensing properly and the unit is not going defrost and that is why they ice up. We've had a lot of issues with all kinds of HVACR equipment related to sensor placement and insulation across the industry, the computer can only respond to what it's told. And yes these have a little computer. Cheers and check this out, for a unit to have this many possible problems is not good. f01.justanswer.com/Rushrepair/c03e588e-a4c1-4a76-ba27-2cc5e610260b_SamsungBull.pdf

What is the black gunk that melted on the front of the panel? I have it on mine and can’t figure out if that’s causing a problem. It looks like it melted off one of the wires
@normadoes3 жыл бұрын
im not 100% sure but it looks like some type of adhesive to hold the wires in place

That is amazing but the process is not complete yet. You should clean the back filter and use a vacuum if you can. I saw that in another video and worked great.

Thanks. Where is all the water going when it's defrosting?
@normadoes3 жыл бұрын
it goes down to the drain pan, if its sitting there then your drain is clogged, you'll need a hard piece of wire to pick it and de clog it

Can I ask, the stuff around the top of the brown pipes, its some sort of insulation, does that need to be replaced? Mine is soggy and looks very loose, will it ice back up if wet?

I have had this issue since 2017 and am amazed that it's so widespread. A terrible endorsement for what is generally an ok fridge.

This is a case of not judging a book by its cover. Don't be fooled. Beautiful on the outside, but if it's insides aren't right... This is really not that 'easy' to do, The video is great, but it didn't show all the hiccups, speed bumps, and difficulties, and having leave out food for long enough to completely thaw the inside (unless you have a commercial [carpet] steamer) just isn't safe.

@@aaangel30 : most definitely! We bought this fridge about 5 yrs ago and had this happen like 1 el right after our extended service contract ended. Still called but it was a no-go unless we paid like $400 for inspection and repair. Crazy!!! We decided against it because repair guy was gonna be 1 wk out, cost, plus all I saw online said it would continue to occur since it was a major defect of this appliance. We just bought an in-stock fridge that next day...NOT Samsung!! We had our Samsung in the garage so it could defrost and so we could see if we could fix it. After about a week, plugged it in and it worked great. Used it as a back up (so happy for THAT) instead of moving it back in again...and after 3 months it happened again! I had a theory it was the ice maker line dripping water and it freezing up...but no water line in garage, so that theory went out the door. Next theory was leveling...but that also went out the door when we leveled and made sure it was not tilted any which way. So def a DEFECTIVE product since it keeps happening every 2-3 months. After 1 yr it started not cooling even though it said 37°...so now we have another issue! Decided it is not worth the electricity for just having the freezer work, so now it is totally off. Will NEVER purchase a Samsung appliance again!

@@normadoes I started doing the forced defrost and it seems to be working. What temp do you keep yours at?
