But why? The point for having this game in the first place was to see exactly how AI treats this opening from both sides of the board. Plus, I don’t think engines can simply “agree to a draw” unless the position is absolutely drawn, with no win possible.

The openings are defined by humans. AI only start "thinking" after a certain position. Unfortunately, vloggers usually forget to indicate this position. So it may look like AI "stupidly" choses a bad opening. I think here AIs actually were turned on after K:f7

So, what exactly...if anything...does this game teach us? Does it mean that with "perfect" play the Fried Liver Attack ends up in a draw? From a human standpoint, many of the moves made in this game are far from intuitive. And with no move-by-move game analysis or narrative, there's not much to be learned here. Just another exercise in futility!

I don’t understand what you just said. “Human moves” are generally considered to be “intuitive” moves…moves that both look and feel “natural” from a human standpoint. On the other hand, “AI” moves (which are supposedly the strongest moves) don’t always look “natural” or intuitive from a human standpoint. In fact, some AI moves appear to be totally irrational…at least on the surface!

Hard fought game in one of the oldest and most famous openings. Doubtful that human GMS would have succeeded with Queen vs rook and two bishops as well as Alphazero. Pretty amazing game.
