I have a wok at home which I purchased years ago at the local military base, and used for cooking fried rice in, and that is one tool which I love and used plenty. That fried rice dish must be great, and it reminds me of the dishes I ate while in Thailand, then later on in Japan, The Philippines, and in South Korea while in the military. I learned to eat it first while in Bangkok while waiting to go to my duty station. I loved the meal so much and have been eating it since then. Before that first dish of fried rice, I had sworn off of rice since my mother and grandmother cooked us just plain rice when growing up.

Plain rice is better with sauce but a one pot meal with everything in it makes fried rice great!

I am predominately a vegetarian but still enjoy your cooking videos. If I am outside doing stuff then I can go all day and not eat but sitting around the house always hungry. I travel for work and always cooking outside

I'd never heard of (or seen) a skottle before. It's not inexpensive at $185, but for a family that's really into camping I think it would be a worthwhile investment over the long run. The fried rice looks great, though I'm not sure about the tomatoes (Italian Fried Rice, anyone?). I've never had good luck making fried rice with freshly cooked rice. It works better if one makes the rice six or eight hours ahead and then lets it cool in the fridge, I think. This tactic is obviously not practical on road trips. Thanks, Flo, Dude and kids.

You guys are awesome - what a wonderful family. Such a great experience for your kids. Very impressed with your adventurous camp cooking! I thought you were going to whip out your InstaPot, but a skottle? I never heard of one of those! Looks great. Do they come in a deeper "wok" version? I do thai cooking in a wok on my coleman stove in the garage - because I dont have a gas cooktop - but would love something like that.. Safe travels!!

I don't think the skottle comes deeper but I don't know for sure. This was Dude's find. At home, I just use my wok on the electric stove top. It doesn't allow me to control the temp as much but it works.

Just saw this, so I was wondering; instead of using Kelbasa, do you ever use "Chinese Sausage" to make your fried rice? I usually take a few days old rice, add it to the sausage, and add mixed vegetables along with soy sauce to make our family's fried rice....lol (we're Filipino)
