In this video we demonstrate a Friedman Runt 20. It's played through a 1968 Marshall 4x12 model 1982A. Simon Karlsson is playing a 1973 Fender Strat and I'm playing a Precision bass.

If ever there was a channel that deserves a million subscribers, it's this one. The quality of content and presentation is just so consistently excellent. It's a shame that other guitar/amp channels seem stuck on lazy reviews, self-important pontificating and hokey clowning, whereas Johan simply provides a short introductory preamble and then just plays. No big personalities, endorsements or corporate shilling - just what matters. Always great. :)

Johan! I've loved your show for a long time and I have really come to know what a great Marshall tone is. I have learned what I really like the tend to be early metal faced Super Leads rather than 60's Plexis. That said however, I am partial to a 67 black flag you demo'd long ago. I believe I might have commented about "hearing the danger" because it had a lot of fritzes,crackles and well, "dangerous electricity" type sounds which add to the element of excitement. Then, due to a financial windfall and in town ease of purchase, I bought a Friedman Small Box combo, and that is my amp now. I think you would really appreciate the way they stick with a clean channel they call "Plexi" to compliment the super gain Browneye channel. And as a combo it looks very Buesbreaker in style and is very well put together. I think you would enjoy one quite a bit. Oh, and that lead tone you are getting out of that Runt has a very "dangerous" element to it as well. LOVE it! If you were in Western Canada I would be honoured to lend you mine to try but, well an ocean and a lot of land too, are in the way of that happeneing! Take care, you are the true King of the Plexi's , you keep filming, I'll keep watching.

Dear Johan! Came across a vintage 70s 100w Ampeg V4 GUITAR head (not bass) at a shop in LA. Owner said its his favorite ever, but its so loud no one asked for it once in over 6 months. Sure enough, even with vol knob at 1 it shook the storeroom windows. Total hard rock wet dream, like Live at Leeds on steroids: earth-shattering yet clean as a whistle. Sure enough, I got to thinking - wouldn't it be great if Johan got his hands on it? After all, its too expensive for me to afford, and the idea of hearing your tones on this sucker got me VERY excited. PS You make me proud to be Scandinavian. Cheers from LA! Best, Soren.

This is awesome! Just don't forget to use fades! There's a lot of clicks & pops when each track drops out. (Most audible at 4:52, 5:36, 5:51, 5:58, 6:01, 6:21 & 6:42) A quick fade-out as each individual track ends will fix that. Also if you combine/comp a track, remember to to add fades at the end prior to consolidating. Some DAWs like Pro Tools have easy keyboard shortcuts that will create fades on all audio tracks at once, which can minimize time expended and maximize your workflow.

That's one hot amp. Great playing across the board and as you said it 'IS FAT and PHAT. Another great video but having been so used to the Marshall's (though not exclusively) on your channel it was/is great to hear a really great contemporary "20". Haven't played one myself yet. Have to do something about that.

He makes great amps no doubt, and kudos to him for bringing back the hype and gas for hot rodded marshalls. My only gripes are that in Europe Friedmans are huber expensive, and that Dave Friedman is having is amps build by B.A.D. nowadays, which is something I dont super like honestly. For those reason If I was to buy a BE-100 head I'd go Ceriatone AH-100 clone. I have a silly soft spot for PTP construction, and Nik's customer support is something that cannot be rivaled.

Haven't played this one myself, but one thing that is so often a 'deal killer' for many non-gigging or even semi-working players. We need to be able to get that power amp drive at lower volumes. Companies that supply that market can charge for the tone they deliver. Many of us have to domicile ourselves in suburbia and while there are times that we can 'let loose' most of the time we're under an iron fist of females and/or neighbours. Hearing from other's comments that this amp sounds great at all volumes makes it the next bit of gear to crank up next music shop adventure.

@Blaydrnnnr2 жыл бұрын
@@paulcowart3174 Its a good amp. More modern features then all my vintage amps, and can give me what I need on both clean, and dirty. I use it cranked with a Two Notes Reload attenuated, so I can push the power section. The clean channel is pretty good on its own, but I mostly use the clean side for my pedal board. I get all my dirt from the pedal board right now, but if you go straight in, the thing can get pretty gritty. Overall, its a good amp. Not handwired or anything, but bang for the buck, its a good amp.

@@paulcowart3174 Sorry to hear that. I have been looking at the Tone King as well, but since I have a bunch of heads right now, I really dont NEED it, but I'm always looking for something, that covers bases that I dont have covered by the ones I do have. Is the Tranny covered by TK? Should be if its still a new amp right? As for the Runt 50, like I said, it's Friedman's " budget" series, but does what I need. It's got some modern features my vintage stuff doesnt. I got a good deal on it used, so it was a good addition to my herd. Takes pedals well, and can get some decent dirt out of it on it's own. Tone is dependent on what cab/speakers your running, but seems to play nice with most stuff.
