Badlands - Ball And Chain: The song was released only three months after Extreme's first hit radio single "Kid Ego" which has similar riff and opening wall of feedbacking guitars. To Jake E Lee's credit, his version of the Nuno inspired riff has far more swagger in a Led Zeppelin kind of way, where Extreme's Kid Ego has the groove of a click track recorded pop song. Ray Gillen... is there a better hard rock singer? Maybe Geoff Tate? My favorite Ray Gillen moment ever is the song "Flesh And Blood" with George Lynch. I heard that Ray was one singer George considered for Lynch Mob.

for me, his tone on Ultimate Sin was just awesome. I think that album is one of ozzy's best and thats due to Jakes massive riffs. I liked his stuff better than Zakk, but Zakk is still a monster, I just happen to think Jake was a better player and song writer.

This sounds fantastic and the editor is great. Pretty convincing JCM 800 sound. Imagine a George Lynch/Friedman collab pedal. You nailed the Jake E Lee tone from Bark At The Moon + coffee!! If you like this kind of guitar tone, check out the Canadian alternative to the Ozzy/Ratt/Dokken sound - The Killer Dwarfs (Dirty Weapons). I love what Dave Friedman is doing with his IR series, offering analog preamp alternatives to the amp modeler/amp capture pedal. I wrote and asked him kindly for a two channel/stereo Vox AC30TB & Fender Twin Reverb pedal. He wasn't against the idea, fingers crossed, because that would make for the best clean/edge of breakup pedal platform rig!

Dave is a genius and only has so much time in the day, but an AC30 Top Boost channel in IR pedal form would be the idea clean/EOB partner for the Fractal VP4, with a parallel mix/blend pedal in there, to maintain the all analog beauty of a possible Friedman IR-V.

Great playing. I was obsessed with Jake for decades, still play most of the tracks from the first and second Badlands albums myself. Just one correction, the Ozzy album you referred to wasn't 'Shot in the Dark' album, 'The Ultimate Sin' album, was it's name, though it did have the song 'SITD' on there. Years ago I found a remastered CD of 'Bark at the Moon', it had a different tracklisting to the album I'd had since the early 1980s, and a song I'd never heard before called 'Slow Down'. I was like a kid in a candy store. His solo album 'A Fine Pink Mist' also has some great stuff on it.

I love my IRX. This is intriguing and has some interesting features. At this point I feel like I need to wait another year or so to see what else Friedman might come out with before I commit to buying another pedal And I’ll say again that it would be great if BAD was able to start doing some of the other synergy modules in this format but if it hasn’t happened by now it’s probably not going to happen
