I feel like the Mic No Mo is going for a very specific sound, that sort of 80's hard rock sound, which I think it does a great job at. That said, it isn't very flexible in that way. I think even a simple 10 band EQ on the direct out could make a big difference if you were to have a micro board that you put on top of your amp at gigs or something to feed FOH.

Not a big fan of what I'm hearing from the "Mic No Mo" on the distorted parts. Did you use it on the center position there? Cheers
@AudioAndBeats5 жыл бұрын
Hi Max, yeah we've used it on center position. The off axis position seemed to be just a little more quiet...no massive tonal difference.

Even if the sound of the Mic no Mo is a bit harsh in this video, I don't think it's a bad product for the price. The difference of sounding with the real mic can also be explained by the fact that the Mic no Mo and the real mic do not react the same with the exact same amp settings. The comparison could have been more fair if the amp settings would have been adjusted while using the Mic no Mo (especially the presence knob), even though I understand that doing 2 different takes for the same thing makes the video a lot harder to record
@Salthecat1 Жыл бұрын
Just ordered a unit and waiting for it to get here. In this video, yes the unit sounded a little bit thinner and harsher than the SM57, but I agree to your conclusions that some adjustments could be made. For me, most importantly its the playability and feel. I could still listen through the original speakers and make any adjustments to the recorded track as needed. Great video btw.
@Salthecat1 Жыл бұрын
Btw, there was one lick (with distortion) where the unit sounded better than the SM57 in my opinion.

What cab/speaker was the 57 mic on? and what speaker and cab is the Mic No Mo suppose to be simulating/emulating? Great video and playing btw......The Mic No Mo seems like a very useful/usable live tool for $99 thanks.
@AudioAndBeats5 жыл бұрын
Thanks...The cabinet we've used was an ENGL 4x12 with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers but I'm not sure what speaker the Mic No Mo emulates.
@neastguy2 жыл бұрын
when you plug it into the PA with XLR is it a line or instrument input? I think the SM57 sounds better but Im tempted to try it
@jimmilliams28483 жыл бұрын
My man, I got a question.. when you have this plugged into you amp , can you still get sound through your normal speaker/cabinet or is it all direct through a mixer/PA?
@AudioAndBeats3 жыл бұрын
Hey man, you can or better you need use your normal speaker/cabinet or a loadbox while you using this. Plug your amp in the "From Amp" jack and your cabinet in the "To Speaker" jack. And then you can use a mic cable to use the simulated out on the backside of the "mic no mo". Don't use it without a speaker or a load connected to it, it's not made for that. Hope that helps buddy
@Diax13243 жыл бұрын
@@AudioAndBeats So this isn't a loadbox? How does it take the sound "From the amp" if it's not taking any load whatsoever?
@AudioAndBeats3 жыл бұрын
@@Diax1324 yes, it isn’t a loadbox. I don’t know how it works technically…but I think it works with some kind of a transformator what changes the voltage coming from the amp to a line level voltage. And the signal is obviously splited after the input, so the direct signal can go to a cab without being changed in any way. But that’s just what I think how it works.
@johann.bichon2 ай бұрын
Yes, I hear a little difference in low end. Is it possible to change cab or mic in this DI?
@AudioAndBeats2 ай бұрын
No you can't change this...the only thing you can change is the mic position

How was the 57 positioned? What axis setting was the Mic No Mo in?
@AudioAndBeats5 жыл бұрын
The 57 was pointed on the join between the cone and the dust cab, on axis, as close as possible to the speaker. The Mic No Mo's axis setting was set to "center".

I understand you need the speaker cabinet for the load but does the speaker cabinet produce sound? Looking at this for use in an apartment so I would prefer if the speaker cabinet did not produce sound and was just there to provide a load
@AudioAndBeats2 жыл бұрын
The speaker is still working normally...the Mic No Mo is not a loadbox, so you can't use it without a speaker or with other words "quietly".
@minisurfbanana4 жыл бұрын
So this basically an output for recording or live show? Sound of the amp is still blaring right? Not like an OX?

Mini Surf right...it‘s not like the ox.
@mikmiklicayan4483 Жыл бұрын
Can you use this as just purely and amp sim and just ditch a speaker cabinet?
@AudioAndBeats Жыл бұрын
No, it‘s not a loadbox or an atinuator. You need to use a cabinet…otherwise you will damage your amp.

A bit HARSH don't you think? This is NOT supposed to be some expensive IR/cab simulator...instead, it's a simple, INEXPENSVE, good sounding live tool to use with or in place of a traditional mic'd speaker cab. I've used this emulation many times live and it works great!
