Curious humpback whales swim around and spyhop next to our ocean safari boat, amazing the people on board -- and giving them a good whiff of whale breath!
The Fast Raft crew were lucky enough to encounter these friendly whales while on a very short coastal jaunt out to Point Pinos with a group of travel writers and bloggers on board. Some of them had never been out on the ocean before. What an amazing introduction to the world of whales!

Coastal Tours from Monterey to Point Lobos, Whale Watching Safaris out of Moss Landing
Humpback and blue whales come to Monterey Bay, California every year for their feeding season, from April through November. This spring they seem especially playful. At least six individual whales, out of at least thirty in the area, had been repeatedly approaching whale-watching boats and spending up to 45 minutes circling, diving under, and spyhopping next to the stationary vessels.
