Wow, what a fulfilling trip you had! Such a treat to see several species of whales and dolphins, but especially to see Emma's pod! Fascinating how all whale species have distinguishing markings. The underbellies of humpbacks are all unique, like our fingerprints. Emma has her dorsal marking and CA163 the spec inside the white spot. I saw a National Geographic documentary on Orca's back that featured them, amazing! We'll have to do a day trip next time. We went on their morning trip mid August 2017, it was wonderful! We read online that they were the best & they didn't disappoint! Thanks for sharing all your wonderful footage, photos, and great music choice! Made my day seeing this to remind me of such a beautiful & special place & memorable trip, love California & Monterey!

@@benbugman3825 These boats look like they're too close to these pods, great for tourists, of course, but not fitting for the wildlife. What is the law there?

It's nice how they seem to perform for the people watching from the boat. Performing on their own free will. By choice.
@cacatr44952 жыл бұрын
I would say that when wildlife is simply themselves, they aren't performing for anyone, and that we should check ourselves in relation to the idea that animals perform for us by any means. They were being themselves. Why does man elevate himself in his own mind to believe that any animal would perform for him? They aren't court jesters, they aren't actors, they are natural creatures living in accordance with their design to fulfill their innate purpose on the Earth. Mankind truly needs to "get over himself," meaning his false pride/ego.

You called the pod Emma's Pod. These are transient Orcas? I seen Southern residents Orcas L pod was in the bay. Do you educate people on the tours about the difference between transient and Southern residents Orcas? Thanks for sharing this great video.
@CleverClover20234 жыл бұрын
These are transient killer whales. Sometimes the SRO venture that far south, but it is pretty rare.
@cacatr44952 жыл бұрын
@@CleverClover2023 The term "killer whale" is a misnomer, as they aren't whales at all. They are Orcas, the largest member of the Dolphin family.

Is it usually windy or choppy during the whale watching tour at Monterey?
@benbugman38256 жыл бұрын
It depends on the day and where the tour goes in the bay but it tends to be a bit choppy and windy.

Thinking of all those captive Orcas and other sea mammals in confined spaces eg Sea World and elsewhere. Time is up for these prisoners, sometimes in solitary, when others have died. Release them all.

Yes because a polluted food depleted trash receptical with ships of annoying people bothering u is so much better right?
@cacatr44952 жыл бұрын
@@narcotic-uy8qj Excuses. There is no substitute for freedom, and captivity kills the spirit of Cetaceans, which includes Orcas. Being wildlife, they *need their freedom. Spending years in a small pool isn't life at all: it's captivity that robs them of their lives.
