Lionel Barrymore wooing Mary while Henry B. Walthall is at the mining camp. I recognized Elmer Booth as one of the cowboys in the saloon and Harry Carey as one of the gold miners! Thank You for another terrific film!

Incredible print. I've never seen the movie like I just did. You could see Mary's knuckles and the bones in her as she clutches Walthall, its that pristine. Their scenes together are superb. And look at how masterfully Griffith has staged the background players! That stuff is incredible! What a beautiful ending; it ties up these characters up nicely....it could have been so easy to end this in a sad way, and they managed to not leave any of the characters unhappy! A great short story, excellent story telling in 15 minutes! The score that Maiah Manser composed brings out the emotional state of Pickford's character very well and compliments the film, and is not obtrusive. At first, one might quibble about synths being used and all that, but if you relax and go with it, you will find that the score marries to the film very well, it's not an arbitrary overlaying of something abstract, "new agey" or inappropriate. All of the actors were great in this. THANK YOU MPF!!!!!!!

I believe Mary was quoted as saying her costume in this film was an old dress of Mama Charlotte's, and really more Gay Nineties than Goldrush! No matter - she looks lovely in it. Always wonderful to see Henry B. Walthall and Lionel Barrymore, too. Thanks, MPF, for this gorgeous print.
