Don't know why they were surprised to what happened 30 sec later. The guy on the guitar is playing custom made ESP 7 string guitar, especially designed for a speed metal, and the bassist, of courses, on 5 string bad-ass bass)) as if they couldn't have come with that jazzy section with a normal fender for instance...))) the moment the guy on the drum started with that rim-shuts I knew they would explode))))

Otep is the first woman I've heard that did the growl voice really well, she mellowed out a lot on her newer stuff but it's still not bad, but older songs like "Battle Ready", "Sacrilege" and "Warhead" she puts her all into it.

Look up false vocal chords / ventricular folds. It's a lot like Tuvan Throat Singing, actually. Anyway, that's all here. There is some processing on the voice in spots, but that growl is all her. Amazing technique on both sides.

Bodied. Not two people, while it is a live session they layered in some backing tracks in some parts. However, it is all still her voice. Complete beast on vocals. Jinjer has been my favorite band discovery in recent memory.

The music style that you were talking about is progressive metal. It's a style that has very technically difficult or off beat rhythms and is often put together in a more experimental way that follows music theory to display the talents of the musicians. Sometimes the different instruments will play on different beats and that is when prog gets really trippy. Some good bands that are prog are Dream Theater, and Animals as Leaders just to name a couple, but Jinjer bounces around several different genres with their music. The most Prog song I heard of theirs is probably I Speak Astronomy, which is a very good song.

Metal is such an unkown, despised and ignored genre... It is funny that a very extended vocal technique surprise veryone. Tatiana's not doing anything new, it is just her tecnique is way better than most (men or females). She is a treasure, well the whole band because those guys are wow!

@@pinketernal6531 I've listened/watched nearly all their live shows and you can clearly hear the vocal effects. She literally just talks into the mic sometimes with 0 effort and its all distorted. I'm a former death metal drummer, you can add a plethora of simply mic effects to enhance their sound. Maybe you should read up about testosterone. The more testosterone the deeper your voice. Women have very little, that's why they don't growl like men. Its effects, and anyone who thinks that's raw growling coming from her is an idiot.
