Glass Eye? They had a female vocalist, lots of soft super melodic parts juxtaposed with dissonant noisy parts, and proggy song structures. They were from Texas though, and also didn't have harsh vocals, just a kinda less melodic male vocalist for contrast. Though it would be weird for him to jump from Jinjer to a moderately obscure art rock band from the 80's. That's my best guess though.

This was a very entertaining reaction,- appreciate your immediate openess ro all this new stuff that´s being presented to you. Tati is a beast and Jinjer is an awesome band,- we all know that by now. What really makes the difference for me is something most people seem to overlook. Jinjer, - being from the easternmost part of Europe bordering on Russia and what is the beginning of the Middle East,- their traditional music is based around folk tunes and folk dances rooted in a wide variety of off meters. Allmost none of their song have any kind of straight backbeat to them or in them. Tons of 3/4, 5/4, 7/4, 12/8, 9/8, 6/4, 6/8, 15/8 etc,- but almost no 4/4 or 2/4 anywhere. If you sit down and start tapping your foot to any of their songs and then start counting meters and bars you´ll quickly find that they don´t adher to standard forms of doing rock, pop and metal songs,- yet everything they do is done so smoothly and with such fluency that nobody seems to notice. I have by now watched quite a few Jinjer reactions,- including from various musicians´s channels,- on rare occasions do even the musicians note anything funky going on,- which to me is very impressively done by Jinjer. Pisces is a very melodically flowing song, but even when they chop things up and go percussive, though heavy and in your face, it´s still as groovy and flowing as a RHCP or Rage Against The Machine song. I´ve heard women growl ,fry and scream before,- it´s just that Tati is an absolute master at it, I´ve heard funky beats before, I´m a born metalhead so the guitar playing is nothing new to me but Jinjer´s combination of it all mated with their uncanny second nature sense of what to the rest of us would be off beat and strange rhythms stands out to me as being unique. And because they´re so god at it and it comes so naturally to them even the musicians don´t notice something that should be screaming in their faces! An awesome band and a high-level display of consumate musicianship. Only serves to heigthen my respect for them. If you want to experience something very different but equally overwhelming here´s something for you: Epica: Sancta Terra - featuring Floor Jansen - Live Retrospect Show ( YES, DO THE LIVE VERSION!!!) Enjoy :)

It's amazing because she taught herself to do the growl. She spent hours upon hours alone to perfect it. She's a vocal beast.

Great reaction guys, they are an awesome band. You should totally do teacher teacher next. If yall haven't done it yall should do popular monster by falling in reverse. It's dope as hell.

One of the most unique sounding bands I’ve heard in recent years is The Hu - Wolf Totem. Traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing. I’d compare it to metal Buddhist chanting.
@TheKarret4 жыл бұрын
Tenggger Calvary has some good metal + throat singing. There's also Suld, but they're more like aaaa rock/chill-er type of metal than Tengger. I guess they'd be a little more like The Hu.

Guys, you are great and I love your passion for music. There are three titles from Jinjer you have to listen to. First one is "Outlander" (failure .colour) and the second one "Teacher Teacher" (official video) and finally "Perennial" (live at Wacken). Trust me, that are great songs! And there is a title from another band. Falling In Reverse with the song "Popular Monster". Hope you enjoy these titles. Greets from Germany

Craig Rodgers Why ? To see their worst song ? You people need to get over it. Stop praising everything.

@@tempsitch5632 why because I happen to like the song?? I'm sorry that you feel triggered because I like a song.... Well done big man you so awesome
@tempsitch56324 жыл бұрын
Craig Rodgers The fuck is wrong with you ? "Triggered ?" It's always the insecure people that get triggered for no reason and immediately accuse others of being trigegred. Read and comprehend. I don't give a shit if you like the song, it's bad, stop recommending that shitty song.

"Baby, you're gonna paralyze the vocal cords." I watched a vocal coach react to this and I'd like to help explain what she's doing. Tatiana isn't actually using her vocals in the screams. She's using her false folds. Her true folds are completely open and no actual sound is being produced. Her false folds are just flapping around like a towel in a hurricane, while she uses her mouth and the back of her throat to make actual words. It's more about pronunciation of the actual words than her screaming them. I can do this too, but not to Tatiana's extent. (I didn't see anyone explain what's goin' on in the throat, but I also didn't scroll through the comments for 5 minutes to fully check.)

Thing is, shoe won’t be paralysing those vocal chords- because there is a way to do it without hurting yourself. You can tell that she’s doing it in a very clean way, because she’s able to switch back and forth effortlessly. It’s the clean after the growls that tells you if they’re doing it with proper technique. Corey Taylor is another good example to listen to, as he switches between completely clean, rock grit, and full metal growl with no issues whatsoever. Those that can’t, tend to blow their voices out pretty early in in their careers. It’s extremely important to always sing with proper technique- whether opera or metal growls. Not singing with proper technique destroys your voice, even if you’re singing “clean”. I mean, you sing Adele songs without good technique and you’ll blow your voice out! It’s even more important with metal growls because it will damage your chords the fastest of you don’t do it right.

If you are new to metal, Jinjer is a diamond in the rough man. The musicianship that this band has is one another level. Tati has such a vocal range that many people get caught up in her growling/screaming, but this is an EXTREMELY talented woman. Jinjer pulls from all genres of music. They are so damn technical and have so many switch-ups in ALL of their songs. They are truly rock gods!!! Check out Teacher Teacher next bro. You will not be disappointed.
